A fully charged battery with no surface charge should read 12.66 volts and it is dead if it reads close to 12 A quick load test by trying to start it should not have the voltage drop below 10 volts at normal temps It is recommended to change both batteries at the same time due to the chemical and physical degradation as in the other one won't be far behind in failure

I don't like anybody that would cheat Pete! Another thing you can do with your meter. Put one tester clamp on it's battery post and clip a piece of bare copper wire in the other clamp. With the caps off, dip in the wire and it will go up 2 volts higher as you dip across the battery cells. This will show you a weak cell when you come to it if there is one. Try it just for fun. Rock on Pete. Love your videos and life attitude! Cheers from the USA

Hey Pete if the system on your truck is a 24v system then that aluminum finned device sitting horizontally is probably your battery equalizer. To check an equalizer is very simple. With engine running check voltage at the ground,12v,24v post. Voltages between ground and 12v should be the same as between 12v and 24v. Normally when equalizers fail or there's a bad connection your 12v battery (small battery) goes bad. Newer equalizers have a small led indicator light to let you know that there working. Hopefully this helps.
