I have always loved exposed structural framing -especially wood members. I think this "true" image of architecture will be making a strong come back in the next decade with the new advancements in stronger wood members and using wood in more extensively fire rated buildings per code. As the technology catches up, I think you'll see a lot more interest in archiecture like this. Which excites me. Great video. Keep them coming. love the movement.

(2:05) That ceiling seems to be a very dark warm gray (about 90 - 95 % black). It reminds me that in a building a solid black can present a hard or harsh appearance. By choosing a very dark gray, the effect of black is attained without introducing an absolute black. // Every example in this video has been superbly selected. This is a great inspiration for anyone who cares about design.

Question: if a steel beam is designed to be exposed, in practice, would the beam painted (top coat) with the specified colour before or after the installation?

I really like your videos and you seems like a nice guy for me. This is very rare by architects. Can you, or anyone else, tell me why architects are often such dickheads (at least the ones on youtube)?
