I am new.....Like Deb, feeling a bit overwhelmed with the possibilities. I am so impressed with the creative ideas. I had started to gather paper and snipids last week not knowing if I could even use them, I had also taken plain typing paper and used food coloring (took me the entire day mixing colors, drying, ripping edges to deckle and press ) to make faux homemade paper. I really really enjoyed making them and it was free because i had the supplies already. So there I sat, all these beautiful pages in pastel colors.....not knowing what to do with them. I figured they were too thin to add all that embelishment to so they sat on a pile of possibilities yet to be known until I saw this video. WOW! I have soooo many ideas now that I thought of as you went along that I cant wait to eat cereal, open junk mail and collect cardboards....(oh and to think for years I had tons and JUST threw it all away last year cleaning house) should have kept them, had some beautiful kleenex box cardboard.....Thanks so much.....now I have a reason to get out the new sewing machine and learn how to use that! 😆🤣🤣

Natasa, This has been the most wonderful video. What caught my eye to want to watch were the beads on the spine. I really like beading. I have had a fun ☺️ time. I felt like I was in a college class. I'll be off to find a tutorial of creating them now! I love these books, they are just beautiful with the open backs and beads and buttons on the spine. I love your tutorials, your way of showing exactly what and how to do each step makes it so easy to follow and learn from you. The diagrams you draw are so very helpful to me too. Thank you for this firstclass tutorial! You are so meticulous and careful. I just had one thought about when you cut the coverpaper at the spine: If you cut the paper like a Y you would get a wider edge to glue down on the cover. It might make it easier. I will try this book out, it's so beautiful with all the buttons and beads on the spine, and all the lovely pages within!

This is the BEST tutorial I’ve seen….you are speaking my language with incorporating sewing, ribbons, lace, beads and buttons (oh my😅🤣) . I’ve made some journals, have been doing visual journaling and Bible journaling for about 10 yrs and have been watching videos to learn new things. (Also a lifelong crafter, quilter & fiber artist) Your step by step instructions, having them clearly printed out next to the project and explaining each step clearly is just awesome. Because this was posted a yr ago I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but I’m taking the time to comment because the final project captured my attention! I will make some of these as soon as I have the time! Just wonderful creativity and lovely sense of design. Beautiful without being overdone as so many of them seem to be! MANY THANKS!!!

I have loved all the tutos I have watched from you so far and learned tones of techniques. You take all the time needed to eplain in detal the different steps necessary to complete each project. And the great thing about them is that we use plenty of material we have and went to discard. A great way to upcycle or recycle material and a great way to experiment with creativity. Kudos to you.

i REALLY LOVE that you have directions written out as you demonstrate what you're doing - haven't seen anyone do that and it's a brilliant strategy to help us learn how to do this really cool technique! I think this is my favorite binding technique yet!!
@mycraftdiaryy3 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry about it, your videos are just as clear as ever and I always found it very easy to follow. I’ve made this type of journals before, watched Jennibellie’s video ages ago. One additional thing I do is I sew my signatures together with straight stitch on sewing machine before tying them to the spine (after sniping the notches). I found it much easier to manipulate the tying when i don’t have to worry about the pages in the signature moving about. Plus it adds a little bit of loose thread, which is quite fun. I do agree that heavier weight paper works better for this, I used packaging cardboard for mine. Even though I’m experienced at this binding, it’s still fun to see your interpretation of it and get more ideas - love the part on adding fabric to the spine and doing the faux handmade paper look on the journal cover!

These are lovely!! I will definitely try this one! You might want to consider a "Y" cut into the area of the spine instead of the "V" that you are using. You will get a better coverage of the cover edges, less bulk in the spine and an easier glue process. Just cut straight up through the center but stop about 3/4 inch from the bottom of the spine. Then cut from the center of each spine corner. You will have a long straight flap that is much easier to glue and less bulky, too.
