This is where you see that a coach is going to be fired.
And there have been a few of these situations where Giannis simply doesn’t want to sub out.
This is the ultimate disrespect to a coach and it’s an obvious distrust in his abilities and voice.
The sudden firing of Adrian Griffin is just the culmination of the chaos that the Bucks have been in for this entire season. And it all started from the moment they hired him.
Ok so let me get this straight…Half the league said no to Griffin, but then a team like the Bucks with championship expectations every year wants to give him a chance?
This was bound to fail from the very beginning.
The one thing that Milwaukee did great in my opinion was the addition of Terry Stotts as an assistant coach. He’d been with Lillard for 9 years and was supposed to be the offensive coach for the Bucks.
But the season hadn’t even started when we saw this…
This resignation after just 2 months on the job shocked everyone, so there had to be something more to it. And Shams Charania exposed the real reason behind it.
It was an incident that happened during practice.
As Shams explained it: Stotts attempted to start a conversation with Lillard and Giannis, Griffin called to Stotts to join the coaching huddle. When Stotts asked for some time with the players, Griffin yelled at him to join the coaches’. The incident occurred in front of the entire team.
So I guess that a coach with 13 years of experience like Terry Stotts didn’t like to deal with this type of behavior from a rookie coach. Which btw, you see how Griffin acts all tough in front of his assistant but then folds and cannot hold his own in front of Giannis?
This is a guy that really hasn’t figured out how to communicate well with people above and below him at work.
Speaking of work, the Bucks defense has been horrible this season. They went from the 4th best defense last year down to being 21st at the moment.
There is no way a team wins the championship with that bad of a defense.
Griffin tried to tinker with the defense the moment he got the coaching job. This lasted for a few games before some players started to speak out that they were way better with last year’s defensive scheme.
In Giannis’s viral rant, everyone focused on and laughed at the comment about the equipment manager. But if you dive deeper, you see that most of what he’s saying like: “We have to defend better, we have to be coached better or we have to have a better strategy” all of that was shots fired towards Griffin.
So all of this led to Bucks firing him. But the situation is just getting even crazier.
Milwaukee is about to hire Doc Rivers, who as we’re just finding out has already been working with them as an unofficial consultant to Griffin.
So let me get this straight: You are hiring the guy who told your coach what to do, which led to all of this? Are you kidding me?!
Not to mention that Doc Rivers has had nothing but failures with high profile teams for years.
This includes him holding the record for the most 3-1 leads blown in the playoffs.
That Doc Rivers? His last successful coaching job was with Boston, more than a decade ago.
Ever since then it’s been disappointing.
So Bucks fans let me ask you: Was it worth it firing a great mind like Mike Budenholzer for all of this? The NBA has gone 0 days without being dramatic, just the last video we had a staggering turn of events that you need to check out right here. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.

I don't understand why they didn't just take the L here and call Coach Bud back. The first round exit last year was a combination of a scary hot Heat team, Giannis getting hurt and Coach Bud's head probably not being all there since his brother died in a car wreck during that series. Instead, you bring in Rivers, who won't even take accountability for his failures and probably set Griffin up for failure as a means to get himself in the door. Doc Rivers must have naked pictures of somebody the way he keeps failing up. Dude could barely get prime T-Mac to the playoffs, won ONE ring with 3 years of KG, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo, couldn't get Lob City over the hump and has gotten outcoached in every big game he's worked for the last decade and a half.

I'll never miss the opportunity to remind people that Griffin was hired because Giannis wanted him over Nurse. He also got Budenholzer fired. Giannis deserves his share of the blame for Griffin. He might be an excellent player, but he's poison when it comes to hiring decisions. He needs to be satisfied with the fact that he nepo'd his brother into a contract and stop interfering elsewhere. For Giannis to start pointing the finger at HIS coach of choice is laughable. Can't wait to see him do the same with Doc, and every coach he gets.

the defense being worse is just a matter of players they lost the best defensive pg in the NBA (holiday) and replaced him with one of the worst defensive guard in the NBA (Lillard) and they also lost Grayson Allen who’s extremely important defensively speaking. The fact that the team is aging a lot affects the overall gameplay too, like Middleton, Connaughton and Lopez are in fact much slower than last year (Lopez still a beast on defense tho).

"Half the league passed on him [...] This was bound to fail from the very beginning." Just an awful take. He's not the exact same coach and person he was back in 2012. He won a FIBA gold medal in 2014 and NBA Championship in 2019. He also got showcased as the lead coach in a game with the Raps. Experience and pedigree is important. He was building it over time. It's not easy to break into HC roles in this league.

Giannis is buckling under the pressure. The coach that they were looking for after moving on from Budenholzer was Nick Nurse, and Nick Nurse was a finalist for the head coach position for Milwuakee; but Giannis wasn't feeling him so they went with Adrian Griffen. You can't hire a rookie head coach when you have "win now" championship expectations. We just shook up this roster -- let PJ Tucker, Jrue Holiday, and Grayson Allen go for a defensively negative point guard (Dame Lillard). Now go dazzle us in half-a-season's time, or you're out of here. For those who demonize LeBron for doing stuff like this (the whole LeGM stuff), I expect to see the same energy for Giannis.

Giannis is my favorite player, but when I saw that stupid shit about him not wanting to be coached by Nurse, I could’ve slapped him on the side of his head with how petty and ignorant that was. If this season fails, it’s 80% Giannis trying to make power moves when he can’t even draft a decent all-star team and 20% Dame being noticeably worse offensively and his typical garbage self on D.

I genuinely don't think it's talked about enough how they fired Coach Bud. I don't follow the Bucks much but they fired: the guy who unlocked Giannis in arguably quite a revolutionary way, especially during the warriors dynasty. Then he took them to the playoffs and the top seed. And then eventually won it. His greatest failure was losing to Heat. The heat everybody! And when did they lose to the heat? When Giannis was injured and missed games. And when Buds brother died during the series unexpectedly. Why is this not just shocking that he was fired? It's literally shocking that he was fired after everything he brought out of the Bucks. And then just get some random rookie coach.... Don't get me wrong, rookie coaches are obviously sometimes a success. But they fired the Steve Kerr and hired a Mark Jackson. It makes no sense...

"Great mind like coach Bud".....lol cmon man, that is pushing it. Pick any single playoff series and tell me how did his great mind influence the result. Bud is a hard system coach that does not deviate from the game plan no matter what. And it costed Bucks many loses in the playoffs. He is awesome regular season coach and imho best suited for up and coming team. Not saying Doc is any better...but lets not forget that everyone was pushing the "fire Bud" button for years. If 2021 Bucks had someone like Spoelstra they would have steamrolled the playoffs. Not barely scrape by.

a turning point in the Spurs franchise was when they sided with coach Pop over Rodman. Rodman went on to win 3 titles, so initially it probably seemed like they backed the wrong horse. But with that move they made a statement: this is our coach, you respect him or you leave. Pop is honestly just an average coach, but with the backing of the franchise he was able to get the respect of the players. That's something most coaches in the NBA don't have.

yes Doc Rivers as a coach has coached teams that’s have blown 3-1 leads, but outside of those teams look who his teams were playing against, even with the teams that blown leads you can look around the league and say that those teams matched up well with his teams. Sometimes it came down to the players not executing and some times it was Doc’s coaching, but Doc is a capable coach to help this team reach their goals

As a Clippers fan I can only really speak for his time there, but our offense was always so simple. With CP3 it was so much P&R and iso's with him and blake, with Kawhi and PG it was even more iso's and he never called new plays or adjusted when the simple offense wasn't working. Sure the players weren't always executing, but his schemes were always very easy for other teams to figure out and we were never put in the best position to succeed with him. Just my opinion.

Please! He's had stacked teams! Doc is not capable of in-game adjustments! That's why he's lost multiple 3-1 leads after the other team makes adjustments, he doesn't know how to re-adjust!

A message to none Bucks fans who have not really watched the team. Coach Bud needed to be fired because the Bucks kept coming up short in the playoffs, and the players were starting to tune him out. The Adrian Griffin higher didn't work, but the Bucks were smart enough to know when to cut their losses. The Bucks needed a veteran coach, and it brought one in that has won a championship in Doc Rivers. If you're going to go this route in the middle of a season, I would rather bring in a coach who's won a championship then bringing in one who's only talked about or have never won a championship. You don't believe me, take the time to check out Shaq's comments about the difference between Pat Riley and Stan Van Gundy when Riley came into the locker room for Miami Heat when they let Stan Van Gundy go in the middle of the season. Check that reference point.

I get the nonsensical moves by the Bucks are confusing but calling coach Bud a great mind is a real stretch. The guy consistently came up with no answers and no ability to adjust in the playoffs he tried the same stuff over and over again. In regards to Griffin and Doc. Definitely a player lead decision which is odd given the only reason Dame agreed to the trade was to chase a title.
