I used to work for a certain beverage company. The CO2 in soft drinks enhances the flavour significantly, so the freshly opened bottles will taste much better than those Macca's cups which have been open for a while. Also Macca's restaurants use postmix like bars do mixing syrup, CO2, and water on site as they pour. Their equipment isn't calibrated as often as the manufacturer's production line would be, so there's a lack of consistency. Macca's restaurants are also franchised, and some owners have been known to ignore the stipulated mixing ratios and run lean on the syrup to save money. If a postmix machine is working well and set correctly, it will make a comparable drink to a pre-packaged one IF you drink it straight away. Also the melted Frozen Coke took up less volume for two reasons: water expands when its frozen; and slushies are essentially whipped to stop them setting hard, so there's also air mixed in there.

Yo Darcy, water is one of the few molecules that actually expand when it freezes so that explains your experiment. Also water is one of the few molecules that freezes from the top and is one of the main reasons it's so important for life. Cheers!

Also the makeup of the cokes are different. Frozen and Maccas are both made through a 'Post-Mix' machine which mixes a coke syrup with carbonated water, but it is legit coke. Most bars and movie theatres etc have them too.

I think you can use spilled or spilt. As for its environmental impact, a clear cup/ bottle is likely more recyclable as it is one material whereas the paper cups with a wax lining are less recyclable as they are considered a mixed plastic (generally speaking, not sure of the recycling facilities in Australia)

To make your own frozen coke just put a 1.25lt bottle in the freezer for a couple hours until it’s on the verge of freezing then spin the top off as fast as you can, the bottle should instantly freeze into slush with the release of co2 then simply invert and squeeze the bottle 👌

That’s because it’s just a syrup mixed into frozen ice so when it melts it tastes wack. And the stuff you buy in bottles at woolies is different to the stuff you buy at Maccas too. It’s just a bag of syrup in a cardboard box we attach to a hose which goes to the machine. It then mixes with water and gets carbonated (aka gets made fizzy) and there ya go, it’s like cordial

Frozen coke can't be carbonated because the freezing bit stuffs it up, that's why if you freeze any soft drink at home after it melts it will taste flat. Also it's a known fact that post mix soft drinks taste different to the original bottled versions. You could do this same experiment with Fanta or Coke from another fast food place and get the same result because you're not actually comparing things that claim to be the same they just happen to all fall into the same category

Sodas in fast food restaurants come from a syrup base and a carbonated soda that is mixed by a machine on site. The bottled Coca-Cola that you get has been sitting longer and it alters the taste. The Frozen Cokes taste different because they use a different syrup to carbonated water ratio to keep it sweet instead of diluted.

as someone that used to work at a mcdonalds i can tell you 2 things about there frozen coke, frozen coke comes from a completely different syrup than the regular coke and they stopped serving frozen cokes in those clear cups back when the $1 frozen cokes were introduced, probably to cut costs a bit duue to plastic cups costing more than the paper ones

Any carbonation of the frozen coke could have been lost in the process of freezing and melting it, as well as the passage of time. The Macca's coke could also have lost carbonation due to the passage of time. I think cold liquids close or freeze your taste buds. That would be a different experience than a room temperature drink. People like to "wash down" junk food with a cold drink partially because it closes their tastebuds. In the US people who care seem to like the Coke at McDonalds. It tastes good to me. They think it's better than Coke elsewhere, but maybe it's different in Australia.
