I spent the first twenty five years of my life under the teachings of Witness Lee, equating him and his words with God. He taught us that God the Father doesn't love us, he can't love us, but he loves the Christ in us. I will need to listen to this again, because this belief has been foundational to my faith (or, lack of faith?), and it is threatening to undo my trust in God altogether. I can tell what you have said lines up with scripture- but it's challenging to hear it. I thank you very much for this teaching.

What few Christians realise is that the Greek verb πιστεύω (pisteuó), the noun πίστις (pistis), typically translated along the lines of 'believe' and 'faith/belief', the adjective πιστός (πιστός), respectively, concern _trusting faithulness_ , not just little more than cognitive belief and faith. It certainly has nothing to do with wishing hard or belief without evidence. Thus, it was Abraham's _trusting faithulness_ that was credited to him as righteousness (Romans 4:3), not his mere belief. Hence those who ascribe to the faith vs works dichotomy are really playing off faithfulness against works and tend to deprecate the call to the obedience of faithfulness (Romans 1:5; 16:26). Notably, the same translators who exhibit such insistence on rendering πίστις (pistis) as 'faith' or 'belief' and πιστεύω (pisteuó) as 'believe' when it applies to humans have no difficulty in rendering them as 'faithfulness' or 'entrust', respectively, when it applies to God and seemingly have no trouble rendering πιστός (πιστός) as trustworthy or faithful in relation to God and people alike. Today's church has been seriously misled by a false faith vs works dichotomy. What those who place these two New Testament concepts in opposition to each other are really doing is playing off faithfulness against works. One result of this false dichotomy is the tendency to deprecate the call to the obedience of faithfulness (Romans 1:5; 16:26). For a full treatment of πιστεύω (pisteuó), πίστις (pistis) and πιστός (πιστός) in their first century context, see _Roman Faith and Christian Faith: Pistis and Fides in the Early Roman Empire and Early Churches_ (Morgan, 2015).

@Gods_Right_Hand_ManHaven't you read John 4:23-24? _the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth._ (RSV) Couldn't be plainer. You are right though, that God doesn't need (or want) little robot slaves. That's why He gave people like you free will.

@Gods_Right_Hand_Man You must be a person of great faith. After all, it requires absolute faith in the absence of evidence indeed, in the face of all the evidence to the contrary, to believe there is no God. I wonder how you'll justify that faith when you meet Him....

Way to raise the sword against those demons, brother Daniel. One of the biggest deceptions for a Christian is to think "the devil cannot deceive me, Christ protects me from him since I have the Holy spirit." God will test us by permitting the kingdom of darkness to tempt us in a variety of ways. Jesus promises in Revelation "to him the overcomes (victorious over the devil), I will give the right to eat from the tree of life."

If you look at Hab 2:4 interlinear for the Masoretic text, it is a little more clear that the word used is "faithfulness." Also, since "faith" in Rom 1:17 can be translated either as faith or faithfulness, I suggest that a better translation of Rom 1:17 would be "...from faith to faithfulness: as it is written, The just will live by his faithfulness." I think this fits better because God admits us into Christ having "faith alone" without works but brings us to a place of "faithfulness" as He requires as stated in Hab 2:4. In other words you need to take the context into account in the translation of "faith" because of the ambiguity of the Greek word "faith."

The term “πίστις” (faith) is often associated with human faith in God rather than God’s own faith. However, passages such as Romans 3:3-4 and Galatians 3:22 indirectly reflect on God’s trustworthiness and the faith required in the relationship with Him. These scriptures emphasize that God’s promises and actions are rooted in a trustworthy and faithful nature. 1. Faith (πίστις) is about personal trust and belief in God (Hebrews 11:1, Ephesians 2:8). 2. Faithfulness (πίστις) is about being reliable and loyal, as seen in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and God’s nature (Romans 3:3). Thus, the Bible uses these terms in different contexts to convey different aspects of the relationship with God and His character. At 9:05, the Greek word ἀπειθῶν is translated differently when comparing the NKJV and the ESV. The NKJV has "does not believe" where the ESV has "does not obey". So the translation committee for the ESV agrees with the translation preference of Daniel Willis of ἁπειθῶν in John 3:36.

I wouldn't rely on either one of these versions. They are what you call new Greek translations. From wescott and Hort. The same translation from where the Jehovah's witnesses derived their version. It's different than the textus receptus.

@@SoundFaithChannelby no means cast out is for those who believe God and have the righteousness of Christ imputed to them. When you say a person can believe and still go to hell you are saying what He has done and His Spirit is not enough. This is to impute sin to the body of Christ. Sin is not imputed to the body of Christ. Put simply one cannot deny self and make it about self. If one does not trust in His blood alone for their salvation they will not walk after His Spirit and He never leaves. His commandments are fulfilled in faith alone. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.-John 10:1 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.-Jeremiah 31:34 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.-Luke 10:30 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:-Mathew 13:7 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.-Luke 10:36-37 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.-Galatians 5:14 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
