Not making excuses for him (at all) BUT a child losing his mom at such a young age and THEN tragically losing their other care giver (grandfather) from a stroke is very traumatic. That may cause some serious abandonment issues. We would assume that would make him be more involved in his children’s lives, but some will take their abandonment and express it in other harmful ways. Doesn’t make it right, just saying. Losing a parent at any age can be devastating but a child to lose two parents back to back, whew.
