Hot take: Anetra doesn’t seem to have a “reality TV show” personality and was apparently quite reserved through filming. Usually girls like that get sent home at some point. IMO producers pushed Anetra so far partly because she gave peak content for social media on the 1st episode and they were hoping to milk more out of her especially since they might not have got a lot of “marketable content” through the season.

Most frustrating part to me is exactly what OP mentioned, it’s a way to deflect and negate all criticism. I wouldn’t be upset with MiB and Luxx if they came into the reunion with the energy of “watching myself back, I’m not proud of everything I said or did” instead of sticking with “I’m just real and you have to trust me when I say I didn’t do anything wrong”. You should be able to receive criticism and learn from it without it becoming “well the whole fanbase is racist so…” Do POC get targeted for behavior more often than white people? Objectively yes. Is that what’s happening this time? Mostly no. Even if some of the criticism is unwarranted, you can’t write everything off and expect everything to be fine. If I’ve learned anything from queens and the treatment they’ve gotten because of their edit, it’s that redemption is possible if they prove that they’ve learned from their actions (even if a good chunk is because of the edit). Seeing Roxxy on All Stars made me go from heavily disliking her to having a very soft spot in my heart for her. Watching back season 4’s reunion knowing all the crap Phi Phi got from the show and seeing how terribly she was treated by the fans and the other queens as she apologized genuinely hurt me a little. If you can come out of the show admitting you could’ve been better, you show improvement and willingness to recognize your own mistakes. (Which is way better and more satisfying for an audience than whatever MiB and Luxx were trying to pull)

@@saesnaughtyprincess of course Loosey isn’t innocent but after the whole experience was over, she owned up to how she acted, admitted her mistakes, and wasn’t a child about everything. I’ve been through similar things too, even in work environments with people who I thought were my friends (actually going through something like it right now :/ ) and watching it happen to loosey hurts me so much because I remember what I felt, but seeing the way she’s handled it has also helped me cope in a way. Obviously it’s sad she had to go through it, but I hope she knows that the way she handled it and how she stayed strong for so long really inspired me (and I’m sure others) and honestly when I (inevitably) get bullied again I’m probably gonna be less distressed about it because Loosey has shown me that I can get through it
@davordubravic6259 Жыл бұрын
I felt the same way. Luxx confronted the queens when called a bully, she said she felt it was such a heavy word. And I agree with that. I also think this is the reason why it is so hard to feel that you are in fact putting pressure on someone for no good reason, so probably being a bully because Loosey did not enjoy it one bit. It triggered some things in me and I am kinda mad this hasnt been resolved as well as I wanted it to be. Maybe Ru's direct feedback. Maybe Luxx and Mistress fully acknowledging some empathy for Loosey. Loosey was incredibly resilient and remained a lady. I wish the best for all three of them. I think the villain edit of Loosey seemed harsher due the last seasons having predominantly redeemed villains, like Kandy and Daya, while Loosey didn't really got a redemption. Also, I'm not happy about Luxx and MIB's attitudes towards Loosey, but I think production subtly gave them a taste of their own games the final 2 chapters, making them look overconfident while also not being able to live the expectations, but as Luxx said, sometimes when you play dirty games you get dirty results. Anyway this is just rambles, I'm not going to go to these queens pages to trow hate, and honestly they're probably the biggest winners so far on the season, almost assuring that if neither of them win, they have an open invitation to AS.

@@saesnaughtyprincess I mean, whatever I write, it doesn't really have any impact on these people in real life, my point of view is more about the reality show, and I saw them being portrayed as overconfident characters. I'm really glad to see this discussion framed the way it should be, in an attempt to try and ensure this kind of treatment never happens to another contestant again. Year after year more and more Queens are coming out and telling the fans how much the edits, producers, treatment on the show and rabid "fans" have destroyed their mental health. Jasmine Masters & Tammie Brown have been trying to point out the exploitation since their respective seasons, yet as you say every season we end up with another sacrificial lamb. You're entirely right, nobody should lose the belief and joy they have in themselves for a 7 figure pay cheque. My heart truly goes out to Loosey, it's a testament to her that she made it to the top 5 while dealing with that constant gaslighting and manipulation. Lux and Mistress have behaved horribly to Loosey and others this season, the deflection and defensiveness they've had around conversations about their attitude have done more to prove the point that they were acting out of malice than anything else, but the culture and high pressure producers have put on the queens for at least a decade allowed them to do it without making amends, or admitting any fault. We can always rely on you to see through the bullsh*t (cue Phi Phi montage), as someone whose first language is English, thanks for speaking on this in a much more articulate way than I ever could, the work you put into these videos is extremely impressive, and in my opinion, right on the money. If the fans don't start demanding better and better treatment of the queens we might as well not have the show, the damage it can cause these talented performers isn't even worth a lipsync to me.

Mistress totally lost me towards the end of the season. At the reunion it became clear that she’s a bully and liar. And she’s actually not a versatile queen. Can’t dance, can’t sing, can’t hold the pressure of interviewing and she’s not a great actress. Great TV. That’s all. And if anyone suffers from delusion, it’s Luxx because I’ve never seen a queen being less innovative than Luxx. Is there anything original she has done on this show that we hadn’t seen before? There is a lot of defense towards Luxx and Mistress just because they are minorities and "were making good TV" when in reality most of the fans want them to take accountability regardless of their skin color or size. I hope the entire Rupaul dragrace production team watches this video and realizes their show promotes abuse.

I really felt for Loosey and honestly speaking watching her being bullied so badly by Luxx and Mistress was so stressful and triggering for me as someone who experienced bullying too. I loved Loosey from the very beginning and was rooting for her. She looks great and she's so talented, she did great on the show. What Luxx and Miztress did was truly disgusting. It's sad how the show turned from "charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent" to just pushing for drama and encouraging messy behavior.

And this is why Sasha and Anetra were the rightful top 2.

Thank you for this! There’s a difference between strategy and just plain meanness. It doesn’t matter what color or size you are - that isn’t an excuse to be nasty. Appreciate you.

Props to you for making this video. All season I've felt that Loosey was being manipulated and put down for others' gain. I absolutely agree that there should be no hate to Lux or Mistress because it is a high-stress competitive environment, but it is dangerous to frame gaslighting as just "shade" or "old school drag" or a queen's "personality". At the end of the day, it just felt like there was a clear disregard for Loosey's feelings and she never got any validation as a drag queen.. much less as a person. It's not the fun kind of teasing when the other person isn' having any sort of fun... it ends up being bullying instead. But I don't hate either of the queens because nobody's perfect and I'm sure it was a defense mechanism in such a competitive show. They don't deserve any hate, but this different perspective needs to be out there. Thanks again for your video

i find it kinda crazy how i realized how deep i've gotten into the drag race realm when i see how crazy the production has edited loosey this season. like when i watched it with my friend who just gotten into the show, she was so irritated by loosey's action and I had to explain to her that it's probably just a case of evil editing.

Salina tried to tell her and she still tap danced into every trap they set.

Most of the time, I understood Loosey. I wish she wasn’t easy to wind up, but when she opened up about how she was bullied as a child, I understood. It sucks that Luxx and Mistress saw a weakness, exploited it, and then acted like they weren’t trying to be mean to her or get a rise out of her just to make her feel like she shouldn’t feel that way. Sometimes they were being playful and it was just banter, but not always. I didn’t like them for that.

I am sure she knows, but there is no point in her dwelling on these conflicts. It's up to the fanbase to embrace and redeem her and ignore the ones they believe to be undeserving of a large platform.

Imo, it feels like MIB and Lux are trying to give the air of insult-sarcasm-queen Bianca Del Rio and bad-bitch Naomi Smalls, respectively. But it's just giving mess.

I could not agree more with everything mentioned here 🙌🏾✨ fame or hype should not be persued at the expense of (another person's) mental health. Let's normalise kindness and understanding, and fair competition strategies. Even on rpdr.

Top this video is perhaps your best one yet. Very analytical, very detailed, very well-researched and very insightful. I sensed the picking on Loosey and was hoping it would be expanded upon by someone. I think she ended up being my favourite of the season.

I am so thankful that you made this video. Your words were thoughtful, and expressed my own thoughts of this situation far more eloquently than I could. While I prefer to watch the queens in group challenges building each other up, I know disagreements are unavoidable. But actively gaslighting a competitor just to force them to crack is truly heartbreaking to see, and goes against the spirit of unity and acceptance the Drag Race culture strives for.

Yeah, Luxx and Mistress were bullying especially Loosey and playing genuinely hurtful mindgames. Made me quite uncomfortable. I hate when people cover their meanness by saying "I was just JOKING". They want to get to do shitty stuff without taking any responsibility. That said, I hope people leave Luxx and Mistress alone. There's too much hatred in the world already. No one is perfect.

Did not know how to play the game :/
@OYJluv Жыл бұрын
I feel Loosey was punished by the producers for trying to not play the game. I dont know if these queens did all this bullying themselves or if they were aided by producers but they want to portray every queens game as tainted, because acting al proper makes no tv and like you said, RPDR is more about the tv drama than anything else.

Luxx is definitely one of the nastiest queens on the show in ages. Hate that she was rigged to the finale.

Thank you for making this video. It was absolutely maddening to watch Mistress & Luxx this season and then people just eat it up. I don’t dislike or hate them by any means, but it was actually distracting and took away from me fully enjoying them on the show.

Seeing nasty behaviour being excused and rewarded has definitely been the most frustrating aspect. That and people mindlessly throwing around accusations of racism, which is just divisive and undermines the seriousness of that topic. Then again the bullies themselves unfortunately prefer to hide behind these accusations too, so it's not too surprising.
