Exposing the Mechs' Major Weakness

Here I want to talk about why the mech is good against the bugs and why its bad against the bots.

I think the major weakness of the mechs is blowing yourself up with the rockets cause you decided to aim slightly at your flank

Yeah, I think the general consensus is that this version of the mech is MUCH better against the bugs than the bots. Even if you don't encounter Rocket Devastators with the mech, the other bots can chip away at your mech's health with small-arms fire. Hopefully, the autocannon version will have heavier armor!

The minigun really needs medium armor pen like the gatling sentry, if you're outta rockets against bots you really can't take care of half of them

The guys I play with and I understand the Mech is purely fire support, a force multiplier against the bots. It can not operate on it's own, and needs to be supported by the rest of the team to survive. We've had a lot of success using it but have also had plenty of failure by either not supporting the mech or dying and the mech is left out to dry without support.

for me the major weakness is the random self destruction when firing the missiles to close to other mechs or ledges, swear the hit boxes randomly bug the fuck out and suddenly your mechs detonate.

The Patriot in Helldivers 2 is basically the Stomper from the original game where it was also better vs Bugs and Illuminates than Cyborgs. I expect the Obsidian and Lumberer whenever they come to Helldivers 2 will be better vs the Bots.

I feel like this mech isn't designed to go against the bots, and I think that people are misconstruing its purpose. From my understanding, the mech is more of a mobile sentry gun, and would only be useful in certain scenarios. It's not designed to be a "one size fits all" stratagem, cause the devs are trying to stay away from any meta builds.

Well I feel like at the current state of the game everything is meant for and better against the bugs than the bots. Now hopefully with the new "battlepass" or whatever it's called that they're adding we'll get some better weapons to go against the bots.

They could fairly buff this problem with the bots by just making it so when your mech is destroyed, you at least dont die and jump out of it before it explodes

I find that the mech kills the bots way too fast for them to have a chance to retaliate now, but when I started using it, I was extremely vulnerable. You just gotta be extremely aware of what enemies are around you, and you should be able to take care of any threats, no problem.

I'm hoping other mech variants can change this in the future, but if the APC isn't at least moving cover in the future, nothing will be. It shouldn't be possible to take damage from a gatling sentry. How is it that a Hulk is way better armored than a mech? Why does the mech have basically the same health as the player? Why are we all offense and no defense in this game when it comes to survivability?

Also friend told me if you turn to the side you can tank a charger hit to the shoulder.

You can tank it but still get some damage.

"I'm spreading democracy real hard, having fun, and I feel like I'm the one!" Sadly the devs have made it clear that's not the kind of fun you're supposed to have. That being said, the mech feels like it's in a good place right now. I'm not sure what they're supposed to tweak in order to make it decent against bots too, without making it plain broken. The ideal would be that they release some kind of cool assault vehicle that is great against bots but meh against bugs somehow.

"I'm the one" I mean theres your problem right there. You absolutley can have that experience when your group covers each other's weakneses and covers every potential area for strength expression. If you're instead trying to make *yourself* the one, you're cucking yourself out of the power fantasy that's right there to be had.

I don't want to bring politics by this reminds me of the tanks in the Ukranian war, as long there are not good anti tank weapons they are invisible, can destroy any unit if they are only soldiers, bmps, light armored cars etc, but bring any weapons that can overcome their armor and the tanks become a giant coffin, I think is the same thinking here, the automatons have anti tank's capability fairly easily, as the bug can barely damage them with the huge bugs, so yeah this mimics the current state of conventional warfare In our world
