Every once in a blue moon you might get something worth value, but panini is all about the bottom dollar value in their pocket. They could care less about anything else. I've been back in the hobby now for about 9 months after a 20 year absence. The drastic changes the hobby has gone through has been astounding. As a family man with a wife and 3 kids. The allure to come back was sparked by my nephew who's been a football collector for a few years now. An seeing the few options he has to chose from when purchasing cards is heartbreaking. This is a 16 year old kid who's reduced to buying Target and Walmart blaster boxes of the lowest tiers of cards made today. The racket this hobby has become is mind blowing. Now for me I'm able to spend a bit more. At the same time it's also disheartening for me. I walk into my local shop. I'm a basketball guy. An I see packs of Prizm going for $50-60 a pack or more. Hobby boxes ranging in price anywhere between $200-800. It's a shame that's what the hobby has come down to. Paying absurd amounts of money for a hobby box or a pack of cards. I love the hobby. I love the connections I've made thus far in the hobby. You hit the nail on the head though. I stopped buying boxes and packs. Even stopped participating in breaks. If I want a specific card or player. I'll just buy it off ebay or go to a local card show. What else is irritating is my local shop offers only a 50% comp of what cards are worth if your trying to sell them. I understand overhead etc. That's ludicrous to me. Love your channel love the knowledge you give to the new guy like myself. Much ❤❤

I used to buy blasters and boxes have better luck with breaks just gotta know the boxes worth buying into for example I only buy products that include at least 3 or 4 or 5 autos per box

The only way to get decent prices for boxes is to buy cases in bulk or if you have a store, buy directly from Panini which gives you a huge discount. Sadly 99% of people aren't able to do this. COMC is good to buy/sell, same with ebay.

Sports card influencers have (over this pandemic period) really dictated honestly how panini markets, makes, and prices its product. The stuff sold is 5x what it was in ~2018, which is when stuff slowly started going up. Everything sold is meant ot make money, theres no balance of value in whats opened base don whats paid. Hobby ruined by card chasers and panini capitalized on it.

Prices are definitely not worth it. It’s the breakers that really keep the prices so high. If it wasn’t for them, panini prices would be more honest. Let’s be real, what average person is gonna compete in a Dutch auction vs a breaker?

Theres a reason I stopped opening Panini products since about October last year. It's maybe a 5% chance to get your money back anymore. Sadly, similar things are happening with Topps/Fanatics with Bowman Sapphire making it impossible to hit one card that can pay for a box. Its predatory and I just cant justify anything other than singles anymore.

This is why I like Prizm Monopoly so much. Are any of the cards worth $10K+? Maybe one or two like a Paolo or Lebron 1/1, but even then it probably goes for lower than what a normal Prizm 1/1 would go for anyways. Do you have a good chance of at least getting your money back though? Yes - pretty good chances of hitting a numbered card for $30. Whereas compared to regular Prizm retail, you may get 1 silver rookie if you're lucky, and even then if it's not Paolo you are probably not going to break even. And then compared to hobby - spend $300 for $20 worth of cards on average. But addicts and people with gambling problems can't pass up that chance to hit that one big card and Panini knows it. So why try to put at least one good card in a box when you've got people addicted anyways?

I just started collecting again. It's sad that out of a $200 box u can't pull a $20 card. I would think 1 or 2 $50 cards at least maybe few $20 cards. But it seems everything is in $5 range for most boxes in that price range. If u buy a $300 box at very least a $100 card should be pulled, seems like a rip off. Definitely better value for your buck buying singles

I mean sports cards are meant to be collected, collecting is a hobby its not meant for reselling so i dont see the problem with it, the only reason these boxes cost so much are the resellers fault they just keep buying and buying to try to get that rare big hit so they make it more rare to make more money of you guys and the cycle goes on and on, the reselling of cards has ruined the hobby for casualy collectors its just the same as the sneaker game im done with buying boxes i am perfectly happy with buying jordan cards raw and putting them in magnetics and in my collection case

You will never get a fair price from card companies as long as you have Group breaks when the pandemic hit a lot of LCS went under so card companies depended on breakers and then product was priced based on hot rookies not production cost. There is price gouging from both. Panini is the worst with there bait and switch redemption making you wait for years then sending you there Panini brand packs of crap instead of an auto as agreed in there contract with you. There needs to be a class action suit against them.
