Two "must-have" tools for Architectural Photographers are explained in this tutorial.
Exposure Blending panel for photoshop: bit.ly/3dpGeub
Plugin power. Insanely useful finishing collection: bit.ly/nik-col...
Alternative finishing software: bit.ly/Lum-AI (use ATSKY10 for a discount!)
Real estate photo editing and architectural photography editing share a lot of similarities. In this video, I'm sharing the best and most efficient way to blend different exposures into one seamless and believable high dynamic range image. I show a manual approach and then a better way using a photoshop panel that makes luminosity mask selections for you. Really quick, really precise.
Once the blend is complete you're going to want to bring back a bit of contrast. I often do that with Luminar AI bit.ly/Lum-AI (discount code ATSKY10 if you want to get it). But in this one, I'm sharing one of my favourite plug-ins that I've been using for years! It's a collection of tools that have real-world usefulness. They're not gimmicky, they look great and save you time. Overall the investment into your business is well worth it.
Talking business, I've also got some pointers on how I charge and if that's something that's of interest to you (and it should be if you do, or want to do this professionally) just write "pricing" in the comments, and if there's enough interest I'll put a video together on how I make good money doing architectural photograph, and you can too!
I hope this guide is useful to you. I put a lot of work into it. So if it is helpful I'd love to hear from you! Thanks so much for watching! 🙏 and share the love with a thumbs up and/or a comment 😄

Every time you begin one of these inside-outside views I think I know how you’re going to fix this. Here, you threw in several great additional tips that were new! A discussion of pricing and gaining clients for architectural photography would be welcome.

An excellent tutorial - thank you. Although not an architectural photographer I do lots of church interiors and the principles are very much the same - needing to recover detail in stained glass windows and in heavily shadowed areas.

No ideia what went wrong but mine got completely fake on the windows, I'm doing the lite version to try, but I'm pretty sure, even with the free version I would have an idea what would it be like..however I've tried to apply this in several photos and they all look totally different..If you please could help with any advice.. thank you so much!

Great tutorial! I too join the others: pricing. I have a quick question about Lumenzia: at 12:35 you changed the level and the mask remained. If I change the level the mask disappears. How did you do? Thanks

Hi Ray. There's two versions of the panel you can access. If you go to the help files that come with it it explains how to switch between them. (sorry not on my pc at the moment to check the steps myself).

Hey Anthony! Love your videos and insights. In general, would you recommend applying no sharpening to the files before bringing them into PS for the blending? I find that my files come out quite noisy when I’ve prepared the highlights and shadows layers, and the blending look a bit choppy around the edges. Is it wiser to avoid LR’s sharpening in my import preset and just rely on something like Nik Collection’s sharpener as a final step? Thanks!!
@archiphoto
@archiphoto Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, great question. Yes, I'd stay away from sharpening until you've done your blending. The fine edge contrast is harder to deal with if it's applied before the blend takes place.

Is there a database or stock portfolio that you upload the photos to so manufacturers can find them and purchase rights? Or rephrased, how do the vendors find photos to purchase?
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 2 жыл бұрын
I'll share the proof photos via Dropbox or another visual sharing platform and also email them a link. The client knows to expect that. Other vendors will often see the photos in magazines or online and then get in touch.

Wonderfully helpful series Anthony! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Besides the common request for pricing-licensing contract would be helpful. But what I am struggling with most is color cast, primarily from wood floors and furniture.
