Any insight into the setup where you're getting clock from ableton?

i use the ableton cv tools pack for this. as long as you have a DC-coupled interface, you can use the plugins in that pack to send CV directly out of line outputs on the interface (i'm using an apollo 8p here)

I wish my Side Step has a limit function for the range. On the H90 you can limit the range but for my other pedals its the entire range.
