this was randomly suggested to me and is one of the coolest things ive ever seen.

Good luck! This is super interesting tech. Hopefully the actuation noise can be reduced to 0.

make a synth midi controller where you can feel each semitone or youcan feel a gradient for continuous pitch alteration. like a theramin you can touch

Very interesting uses ! I hope this will soon be integrated on consumer products. This seems really fun

The haptic keyboard idea seems really cool.

The smart home feedback is among the most adoptable presented. The vr/ar are also very interesting use case but are less adopted at this time.

So cool! Which was your favorite demo?

Playing video games with the big sound box was pretty fun! But probably the most surprising one was the AR glasses, a lot of people really like that one

So it So it's a subwoofer using different frequencies and an aperture-like opening to induce a controllable airflow?

very cool

That's really cool. As the exciter appears to be a transducer, are they audible to the human ear when used?
@FiglabCMU8 ай бұрын
We normally underdrive them at a low frequency to reduce audible noise

Mid air haptics seams like a very good field of application for the technology. How sensitive are synthetic jets towards increased distances. Could it be said that by doubling the distance to the synjet the respective felt force is reduced by a half as well or is only like 25 percent that would be felt. Did you get any insights into this? Thanks :)

You can check our paper for the pressure/windspeed drop offs at distances away from the port

Very intersting, especialy the mid air haptic feed back for screenless devices. Intierly unrelated but, an Xbox controller for a Nintendo game?

Cool stuff. How high is the energy consumption of synthetic jets? Could these be used when pulsed for cooling purposes as well or would the air flow, respectively cooling effect be minimal?
@FiglabCMU8 ай бұрын
Fairly low power consumption, you can check our paper for specific details. Could also be used like a fan for cooling, but synjets are definitely less power efficient than fans

Interesting. An haptic alternative to typical vibration, which is annoying most of the times.

I don’t think so. That one uses osmotic pumps, and a liquid, I think. This is sending bursts of air in a way that is coherent and directed. I think these are very different?

"With the right combination of stroke displacement, port geometry, and drive frequency, a jet of air is emitted" In my time we used to call that a 'queef'.
