Come on people , its a good effort for a mostly white school choir. We know they are not Jamaican and they can never sound like the real Jamaican but its nice to see that a director can take a piece of music 🎶 and become creative with it. I know it does not sound like the real deal but l give them a Grade C

Not to pour cold water over a clearly well rehearsed and presented effort, but as a Jamaican, I cannot recognise most of what is being said/ sung, especially during the harmonies (I think). Plus, again not to throw cold water on your homage, the claps and steps at the start and throughout seem more African-American (Step Dance?), than Jamaican. I cannot recall ever seeing these kinds of dance moves being done anywhere in Jamaican folk music culture.

Just coming across this. Mi feel hurt. Why mix South African Gumboots dancing(possibly the origin of Afro-American step dancing) with Jamaican songs..including "Sim Simma, who got the keys to my bimma?" And when they actually sing Jamaican folk songs....it makes me want to give the arranger a beating!

Agreed 100% This was a hot mess! Stepping is not a part of Jamaican culture, but belongs firmly to Black America. Those folk songs were barely recognizable! And Sim Simma is NOT a folk song. It is a dancehall song by Beenie Man. Dem need fi stick inna dem lane! KMT!

Horrible rendition! Not very authentic (speaking as a Jamaican. Born and raised). Nothing Jamaican about what they did in this video.

I would say it’s not a bad effort but it just shows you how society views culture and things. If it was a Jamaican doing it they would try their endeavour best to be authentic but whenever a Western country is presenting our culture. It’s like well at least I tried. 😒🙄😒

THIS IS AWFUL!!! SOOO AWFUL!!!! ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. WHY DIDN'T YOU SING SOMETHING THAT IS CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE TO YOU? YOU HAVE NOT DONE OUR FOLK SONGS JUSTICE. PLEASE DESIST. NEVER EVER SING THESE SONGS AGAIN. WHY DID YOU THINK TO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA AND PERFORM JAMAICAN FOLKSONGS? DID YOU GET CONFUSED WITH YOUR GEOGRAPHY? I'M DISGUSTED!!!!
