Exquisite Corpse: Brownish Green Eyes Started at Me

This week’s Imaginative Storm writing prompt is an image by Mike Savad entitled “The Cantankerous Cat 2.0.” We used his image of steampunk clockwork in 2021. You can see more of his intriguing work at mikesavad.com.
Each Imaginative Storm writer offered one line from the ten-minute pieces they wrote during our Saturday Morning Imaginative Storm Writing Group. The title “Brownish Green Eyes Stared at Me” comes from the first line spoken by Corrine Crone.
Brownish green eyes stared at me.
He just blinked. One plus one
equals three. All pieces of him
were destroyed by fate. However,
it got my request twisted.
When I'm this greased up,
I could fit anywhere.
He felt a kind of happiness
that she had almost forgotten existed.
Jeepers creepers, you have no heart.
You're simply nuts and bolts.
They took my soul and spirit
and squelched the God out of me.
Uncomplicatedly-cycle of human passion.
The light broke through the surface,
gifting me my freedom allowing
me to breathe for the first time
in years. I ask again, he says,
"Does a dog have Buddha nature?"
Creep into our conversation
from any song we've ever known.
This is what you get when you buy
an anti-allergen pussy with a smug
electric mug. The comfort I felt
in the strange feline company
began to feel invasive and addictive
simultaneously. There are those of us
who are dog lovers and others
who prefer cats. Where is my mechanic,
the one who will put me back together
with no pieces left over? Forgive yourself
for everything-days alone in trance waiting
for deliverance and touch Predator and prey.
Uncomplicated relationship. Dialogue captured
in the body and set free. That electric cat
is giving me ideas. Perhaps I can get a cat
who doesn't litter. Pieces of myself,
my tinned heart chopped to something real
with green eyes. And yes, my whiskers are real.
The request to oil me could be a lifetime job.
Gigantic green eyes and metallic tin cat tongues.
A single floating hair catches the sunlight,
shifting focus as I drive. Meet your new
best friend. She was fierce, and on bad lunch days,
she often bit the nurses. Circuits reawakened.
It's hard to know what will happen during a full moon.
I am the future with this metallic heart.
A ginger cat wearing an apron huffs his way
in with a laden tray. I have brought my true self
for all allergic people, he says. Pure love.
