In this video I show extended testing on the newly released Down4Sound JP23v2 in blue. Amp is rated 1800W at 2 ohms and 2800W at 1 ohm, but in this video I show 8 ohms down to 0.67 ohm tests.

hey man,have you been running your jp23v2 at half ohm ? i have been running mine at 1 ohm on a single sealed 12, i want to add another 12. and would have to go to .5 ohm load with both.. just wondering if i am asking for trouble..? lol

@@madnessmaker6162 the only ohm load this amp has ever seen is half ohm but you gotta have good electrical or it will blow I have a 320amp alt at 14.8 and 10k worth of lithium every now and then it will drop low 13's if I'm bangin hard at a stop light but you can just use the bass knob to turn the bass down a little bit honestly I would just tune the gain down a little overall for long-term

I have the jp23 1.5 for my daily. I have nothing but positive words for it. I had it pushing two rs gold 10's and it was a perfect match. I'm getting g ready to move on to either a beefy 12 or 15 and don't plan on switching amps(unless it's to as jp33!!!)

You are looking at probably 2500 watts with a impedance rise at 1ohm meaning you would have to wire your subwoofers at. 5ohms combined or one dual at a half ohm? I have two jp23 amplifiers and I ran them on two sundown xv3 12s? Had two run a Taramps 8k on them to make them move hard?

I doubt most people will see a true 0.67 load with speakers, so you'll be fine. The resistors are brutal for the amp tests while speakers will fluctuate in impedance based on frequency, temp and other parameters

The original model was a half bridge Korean board. They run down to half ohm generally with now problem. The new model I can see is a full bridge design. That’s why it’s so much smaller. They do not like under 1 ohm. That being said there is substantial rise in impedance when you wire an amp to speakers. 3 times at tuning frequency is normal for a ported box, so on speakers .8 would most likely be fine all day long. I install a lot of amps and I typically don’t run full bridge under .8. They don’t like it. I have done them at .4-.5 in competition vehicles that demo for 20-30 seconds at a time, but in a daily driver keep this thing .8 or higher. You probably think .8 sounds weird but a lot of todays very high end subs don’t utilize typical dual 1 ohm or dual 2 ohm coils. They do dual .9 or dual 1.8 to suck a little more power out of your amp and help with rise. Dual 1.8 in parallel is a .9 load.

@@momanholmes8715 that is true full bridge cannot be strapped. At first glance and based on reduced size I thought the 2.0 was a full bridge, but you are correct. I’ve never hooked up a JP amp. Only sat in his Tahoe. Twice. It’s very unimpressive for what’s in it. And I’m a team DB guy. Team DB built that Tahoe, but I’m not impressed. Looks great. Not very loud considering what’s in it.

My take on all this is skar audio is the cheapest on the market and nobody gonna beat that. Down4sound is great, audio control is great too, DD Audio is also great too. Rockford too. They are all brand and we pay for brand, not for the quality and power. Ever brand and make have a different sounds, quality and power. With skar we get affordable price, quality with power and a brand.

Skar audio is helping us have something to compete with high end car audio system out dere. Down4sound are trying to make affordable amplifier and gears for us to purchase.

The 0.5 on speakers equates to about 0.8 in the Dyno. Dyno uses resistive loads where speakers are reactive (dynamic) so their ohm load fluctuates depending on frequency, temp, box and more.

That's 4 12s dude.. and it was moving them.. those model squares don't have a very high x max anyways.. and what jl amp are you referring?? The highest model is a 1000/1. Without getting a hd At well over $1 per watt. I had a 250/1 and it wasn't anything to brag about.. I sold it for it's overpriced amount and bought amps that would do 3x the power .. also sold the subs for some that would handle power . Jl has the w7 and 1000/1.. outside of that it's weak bs... when will people wake up
