When a referee infringed ireland for everything it disturbs the flow of the game. Ireland were comfortable against them up until the 20th minute until incorrect decisions went against them.
@sparky7165 жыл бұрын
@paul rangi I looked this up and World Rugby came out and said that the 3 out of 4 penalties given against Ireland shouldn't have been given and that could have changed the game because when those penalties were given Ireland became hesitant and it changed their game plan, when they came out with that and the fact that during the samoa and russian games the other teams were penalised for the same things makes Japan look untouchable and despite their incredible performances and training it could all be undone by the weather on Sunday. I think because this is the first World Cup to be held in Asia the refs where given a mandate to look the other way because a lot of mistakes that Japan made haven't been caught on and that sours the game when 1 side gets penalised more than the other, there has been a lot of discussion on why Japan wasn't penalised more and some say that because World Rugby need this tournament to do well and it wouldn't want the hosts to go out too quickly or it could destroy their chances in Asia, some even suggest favouritism. There is no doubt with the poor ref decisions so far at these matches and not implementing the rules properly this tournament isn't that well thought out, a lot of coaches have got onto World Rugby about this even England, France, Wales, Italy, a few others too. This tournament wasn't as well organised or planned as before in 2015, I however love love Japan and want to live there some day and the fanzones are great, the Japanese spirit for hospitality is great and no doubt the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is going be great as well.

Gavin Kidd sameeee! You can see the sweat pouring off their faces but they never stop the frequent tackles. I am also inspired at how they’re physically smaller than most of these World Cup teams and have developed strategies to use this to their advantage such as the extremely low tackles. I’m Irish and I’ve noticed that the Irish team are quite skinny compared to a lot of southern teams and we rely a lot on kicking and chasing. But you can 100% see that famous Japanese discipline in these players. It was especially evident in SA vs Japan when the SA team wouldn’t tackle nearly as frequently and had a very casual air about them when you could see that the Japanese just kept running.

why are there 20 minute highlights for other games but only 9 minutes for one of the greatest upsets in world cup history?

Because they’ve cut out all the stoppage time e.g. 30s to set a scrum. Ain’t nobody got time for that...

What absolute balls, courage and confidence by Japan. That last intercept was amazing. Most teams would have played on their heels, but he went for it. Bold.

Just watching some of Ireland's games from 2006-2007, and the level of creativity then compared to now is absolutely insane...Nowadays the Ireland team just plod along, no one seems comfortable with ball in hand, just lazy robotic movement at all times. Back then the entire backline was a threat, even (dare I say it) the likes of Girvan Dempsey played with more flair than these guys. Just seeing O'Driscoll, Horgan, and Hickie etc move with such pace, angles of running and breathless passion a was a joy to witness again. Stringer's speed of ball was on another level also. God I miss those players. I feel we have no one left to inspire the team anymore, no real talismen. Everyone's confidence is completely shot and there are no natural leaders/enforcers in the team to lift morale. O'Connell, Leamy and Neal Best used to fight hard with every carry, and would get involved in the physical side of things too...They wouldn't be bullied by anyone. Who do we have now to assert any dominance?....The gentleman Josh Van Der Flier, an extremely tired Peter O'Mahony, Iain Henderson who wouldn't kill a fly on the pitch?

When Japan does it once against South Africa... it’s a miracle. When Japan does it again against Ireland... it’s an upset. When Japan will do it one more time, against South Africa... it will be a spot in the Semi-Finals!

This comes as no surprise for anyone who have been watching Japan in the pacific nations cup tournament leading into the World Cup...they grind every team they play into the ground their patience kills everyone they play...there’s not too many tier one nation that can compete with them

Idiot, Eng beat them easily recently
@Narapoia15 жыл бұрын
They had a great game for sure - but SA beat them by 30 points a couple weeks ago. Amazing performances every 4 years are a start, and Japan are getting better, but most Tier 1 nations beat them comfortably between RWCs.

I predict that Japan will no longer be reckoned as a 2nd tier team, and will in fact be counted as a rugby powerhouse within the next 10 years. Well done Japan (from a South African still in shock about what happened 4 years ago - at least we are no longer alone in that boat! - Welcome to the club Ireland...)
