“Hey welcome everyone. In this video we will be showing you how to extend your NVR signal. By using the built in repeater function in the IP Camera. By using a network switch and also by using a WiFi Router. Let’s get started shall we?”
“First we will get the IP Cameras connected to the NVR using the ethernet cable. If you would like to know how to connect IP Cameras to an NVR feel free to watch our previous video. There are also separate Repeaters built specifically for extending NVR signal, and the method to set them up is the same as setting up the IP Cam Repeater, which we will be showing you now. As you can see we have two IP cameras installed, and we will use one of the cameras as a repeater for which the other IP camera can connect to. A maximum of 3 cameras can be connected in series through the IP Cam Repeater function. Once you select the client IP Cam, the table corrects itself. Clicking on Apply will send the command to the IP Cameras to connect themselves accordingly. Both IP Cameras are now successfully connected in series”
“The Second Method is using a network switch. We will power on the switch and connect the devices to its Ethernet ports. This network switch model connects to a modem from port 8. Since we are not using a modem, we will connect the NVR to port 8. The other devices can be connected to the remaining ports. I will remove the WiFi antennas of the IP Cameras so that it communicates with the NVR solely through the Ethernet connection. After pressing Refresh, all the properly connected IP Cameras which are supported by the NVR will show up on the list. After scanning is complete, we need to press Auto Add for those IP Cameras to be saved. You could also manually add them if you know the IP Addresses of the IP Cameras. Press on Manual Edit, and input the IP Address of the IP Camera. You will also need to input the password if you have secured it with one, if not, leave it blank. Remember to press Enable before saving the Camera. The Camera disconnects if the Ethernet cable is unplugged, since it has been set to communicate solely on the Ethernet”
“Now lets checkout how to connect via a WiFi Router. The WiFi router which I have only has one Ethernet port, so I am unable to plug both the NVR and the IP camera. I will use the network switch once again to solve this issue, but if your WiFi router has enough ports, then you would not need a network switch. I will connect the WiFi router to port 8, and all other devices to the other ports. Clicking on Refresh, we get to see the IP cameras connected to the network. We will save it to the NVR so that we are able to access the IP Camera Web Interface through a computer”
“We enter the IP Camera Address to access the web interface. The default password for most IP Cameras are blank. By enabling the adobe flash player, we can get the feed from the IP Camera. We can change the IP Address of the camera and keep DHCP turned off so that the IP Address does not change. After saving the settings we need to enter the new IP Address into the browser, since the previous IP Address is not valid anymore. It is highly recommended that you add a password to your IP Camera. After loggin in with your new password, we can set the WiFi. Remember to hit save after setting up your WiFi. If you changed the IP Address or the password of the Camera, you need to change it accordingly in the NVR by clicking on Manual Edit. If the settings are correct, the camera will connect successfully After unplugging the Ethernet cable from the IP Camera, the feed will stop temporarily and startup connection via the WiFi Router. It can be seen on the network switch as the NVR is communicating with the WiFi router for the Camera feed as the Wifi Router is connected to the IP Camera. We will restart the system to ensure that the devices connect properly even after a power loss”

Thank you for this!!! I had no idea you could run the cameras through wifi that wasn't on the nvr. I have 2 cameras that were out of range and I almost bought the extender. I ran a 100ft Ethernet cable from my router to the camera (since they were already mounted outside) and setup found the up address and entered my wifi info and boom cameras are running perfect. Best video explanation ever!!!

Hello, great video! Question, is it possible to have 2 wireless cameras on my main router and 2 wireless cameras on a range extender? Or, is it better to just set them up with the repeater on the camera with the best signal strength? Thank you.
@keshbyte
@keshbyte 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can have 2 cameras connected to the router and 2 other cameras on a range extender. The signal strength depends on your router. The router would most likely have a better signal strength over the ip cam repeater. If you connect cameras to the router which you use to browse the internet (connect to your phone or any other device), keep in mind that the router has to deal with the traffic from the ip cameras as well as your personal browsing. So its best to have a seperate router to connect with your ip cams if you wish to extend its signal.
@DiscusJeff
@DiscusJeff 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. If I purchase a separate router, I would have to just connect it to the back of my home router (or switch) and then I will have 2 separate IP addresses? Never done this before but sounds like a great idea. And the connection is for 2.4 correct? Not 5.0.
@keshbyte
@keshbyte 5 жыл бұрын
@@DiscusJeff If you are gonna use a seperate router (lets call it second router for now) you have to connect the ethernet wire to one of the ports of the main router and the other end to one of the ports of the second router (not the WAN port, it should be either 1 or 2 or so on). The NVR should be connected to the second router, not the main router. Once you do this, auto IP configuration is lost. You have to manually assign an IP address to each device you connect to that network (even to your mobile or other device). This is kinda complicated but if you have time to kill you can get it set up. It will be trial and error at first since different routers have different settings. Connect your desired IP cameras to the second router so that way, the main router doesnt handle traffic between the ip cams and NVR. The WiFi frequency depends on the NVR and IP cameras. There are some which works on 2.4 or 5, some which claim to be 5 but works on 2.4 (cheap chinese ones).
@keshbyte
@keshbyte 5 жыл бұрын
@@DiscusJeff In this set up: 1. The main router should be the only gateway, the second router should be like a broker. 2. The second router can access the internet as well so, keep its wifi secured with a password. Keep all devices which emit a wifi signal with a password. Even if an IP cam doesnt have a password, some peeping tom will try to connect to it.

For the first method, make sure all the cameras are connected to the NVR before you setup the ip cam repeater function, because the NVR sends necessary signals to those IP cameras. Those repeaters made specifically for NVRs can be connected easily compared to normal routers. The repeater should show up on the "Repeater" window in the NVR. If it does not show up, try connecting it to the NVR via ethernet. After it shows up, the IP cameras can be linked to the NVR Repeater using the Repeater window (the same way I connected IP cameras in series in the video). If you are trying to extend the NVR signal to IP cameras using a normal wifi router, check out the 3rd section of the video where I show how to do the same. I'm a bit late to the party but I hope you are still responding....my NVR has a built in wireless router. And when I try option 3. The cameras always seem to default back to the routers subnet of 172.20.14.x. So I connect the NVR to my home internet router and plug the camera into another port on the router...the camera gets a 192.168.1.x ip. I go to that up in the browser and update the camera wifi settings to be the wifi for the home router. When I disconnect the camera via the ethernet cable...I see two ips available for the camera. 1 is 192.168.1.x and the other is 172.20.14.x. But I can only add the 172.20. One to the NVR. And I can no longer reach the camera directly via the browser.

Hi, did you try connecting your internet router to port 8 (if you have an 8 port switch) and the rest of the devices (NVR and the IP cameras) to the remaining ports? If that doesnt work, connect your NVR directly to the internet to check if its an issue with the NVR. If the NVR doesnt connect to the internet when plugged in directly, you may have to change the network settings of the NVR. I have uploaded another video on how to connect an NVR to the internet. Hope it helps. Let me know if you run into any other problems.

ok, i made it all work! So i have now all 4 IP wireless cameras communicating with my Wifi Extender that is connected to the NVR (in the basement) through Ethernet. I think i watched your video about 50 times.... Thank You! Now i have the next problem. I purchased 2 more cameras (Hiseeu Smart Camera TZ-HB312). However when i put their IP address into Explorer it gives me error and says the camera does not allow connection. I did the exact same procedure like with the other cameras but i have not been successful. Any idea? (These smart cameras are a little different than the originals and they are basically set for single use i think).

The problem is that some manufacturers dont add the Web UI for some of their cameras. Its because of the lack of the Web User Interface, that the explorer says cannot connect. The cameras are programmed to be compatible with the manufacturer app only. So the settings of those types of cameras cannot be easily adjusted. Sorry about that bro.

Try a LAN-LAN connection by connecting the first floor router to port 4 of the second floor router instead of the WAN port. You will have to adjust static IP for all devices that connect to your network hereafter if you do this method. Let me know if it works.

I bought a wireless 8 channel Nvr using 8 wireless ip cams with no physical LAN ports to plug in any cable, is got just power port for 12v dc. The set-up was pretty direct until when 2 cameras were out of d wireless Nvr Wi-Fi signal range. Plus the Nvr doesn't ve a repeater feature under video settings. To resolve this I want 2 use my Tp-link TL-MR3240 router as d Nvr's reporter but this is were I've gotten stuck n do need ur help with. The routers ip addy is 192.168.0.1, Nvr basic ip: 192.168.0.90 Gway: 192.168.0.1 Pri. Dns: 192.168.0.1 Nvr ntwrk ip: 172.20.19.3 Gway: 172.20.19.1 All ip cams ip are: 172.20.19.xxx So how do I connect the router so as to extend the Nvr to the 2 ip cams presently out of range n also boost signal to any around it too.
