Killer work. I know you will have a ton more work once you are in the water but please assure me that once it's dropped in, you will reset a few and have a party. If my social security gets worked out, maybe I could drop in for awhile and help out. I have worked as a mechanic, machinest, RV repair, low and high voltage RV and automobile repair tech, Bondo fiberglass repair tech, and so on and so forth. Oh yeah, and guitar tech/builder. I am wanting to get a boat of my own and learning to sail around sometime soon. I am unknowledgeable about dogs and customs so I am currently looking into that aspect of travel to South America because my dog Roscoe, at this point, does not have a choice but to travel with me. Great job and things are really coming together! Keep up the great work.

Hi Ben and MP. This is just a modest contribution for your safety. Before "splash day" I think you must adress 2 items (besides all the rest you have on your list): A) modify the opening of those escape hatches you did a few episodes ago. If posible, make them open inbounds instead of outbounds as they do now: it´s more practical and safer to use. B) change the location of that steel plate in the engine room witch holds the propeller shaft to the back side of the beam, otherwise all the force produced by the engine-propeller gear will rely only on those 4 screws you used to place it. If you do so, all the energy will spread more evenly trough all the structure. As for the rest, I have only 1 word for what you had achieved in almost 3.5 years: ASTONISHING! I really hope you don´t take me wrong for my comment; I love you and all the project you have faced, even not knowing WHAT you were facing in the first place when you bought Yabá. As always cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina. See you tomorrow.

This is about your fuel tanks and holding them in place. I know you have that wood up there but once you get those tanks in place and get them full of fuel, that wood is not gonna stop them from relieving the wall you have the metal working place next-door to you have them make up some sea bands to go in those grooves in your tank and make sure they have mounts for the back wall And the ceiling otherwise your starboard wall and your ceiling and then you can bolt them together like a clamshell to hold those tanks in place and then put the wooden beams on the outside. I hadn’t read anything through the comments about it but I’m sure you got more contacts than mine. Good luck. Ikeep up the good work.

These boats don't have much of a keel - must not go to windward very well. You could add leeboards for lateral resistance.
@jackharper319010 ай бұрын
i agree, Not much keel but I doubt that they will so much sailing.

I can't help thinking it would have been a lot easier to have fitted the sacrificial keel at the same time as the keel?

The sacrificial keel of hard wood is something thats sadly not adapted anymore, any fibreglassboat especially long keels would benefit from this, steel keels also. It acts like a bumper in a grounding, protecting the keel from direct hits, its really good when beaching the boat or just drying out in low tide. In some cases a stainless steel flatbar is fitted under the sacrificial keel, this steelbar would reach far up over the waterline at the stem.
