Its similar to common isolated footing but with interaction from bending created by soil pressure. Sometimes it end up with top bars on column-footing. Thanks

That's a good question. However, in real life most failures occur at the mid height, that is why it is safer to treat it as simply supported rather than fixing them at ends. Thanks

Load bearing is possible only on vertical load not on side pressure. Thanks
