I have just installed this filter and it is already clearing my 65 litre aquarium - I have it running along with the stingray filter that I was using so that the canister filter has time to cycle. I don't know if this is necessary but a good failsafe in my mind to prevent any nasty spikes of ammonia or nitrite/nitrate. I misunderstood the connection instructions and connected the pipes the wrong way round - I stupidly thought in meant water into aquarium and out obviously out of the aquarium and wondered why I couldn't prime it. It then dawned on me that it meant in to canister and out of canister and made a wet soggy mess with towels ad bucket swapping pipes around. It is funny now but at the time I was totally stumped lol. So far so good I think it was definitely a good buy for just £39.99 on Amazon. I've used All Pond equipment for my pond for many years so knew that this was the right filter for me because I have never been disappointed with any of their products and as usual I am a happy woman! Internal filters are a good starting point but to me there is not enough room for biological and mechanical filtration because purely by design they have to be small enough to fit into tank and do the job adequately but I wanted more than adequate which led me down the route of external canister filters which are also much easier to clean because they are already out of the tank environment and so easily accessible.

hi. i have a 190litre corner tank. i here its better to go bigger when buying filter. will this one be plenty or shall i go for the next size up?

Hey Aaron,When buying a filter we would always recommend going the biggest you can. This means less cleaning out and happier, healthier fish. We would recommend the 1400EF and you may also want a UV which will help stop algae growth.Hope this helps! The All Pond Solutions Team

I have got an Boyu Elegance Aquarium with about 15 tropical fish in it. Up until now I have been using an underwater filter and it has been working but I would like to upgrade to an external type filter. I was thinking about getting a Aquarium Fish Tank External Filter 1000l/h. I would be greatful if you could advise me whether this would be suitable for my aquarium and if it would fit.

I'm not sure what the surface skimmer is meant to do, to be honest?
@AllPondSolutions7 жыл бұрын
Hello, A surface skimmer is a device used to move the surface of the water and get rid of the scummy oily film that can develop on the top of the water. This film can interfere with the exchange of oxygen between the air and water and can effect the quality of the fish tank. If you notice that there is a lot a build-up on the surface, this is something that you should consider. Hope this explanation helps!

Thank you! I've just added the surface skimmer. Extending the intake tube to enable the skimmer makes it very near the sand substrate at the bottom. Does it matter how close or far from the bottom intake tube is?

Hey there, I have just installed one of those after using my previous filter for 10 years with no issues. However my water became cloudy, and unclear even the water was changed already for 5 times. Everything was pre washed prior installing or using. The aquarium was fully washed and cleaned as well. ????????
@AllPondSolutions7 жыл бұрын
Hello, Sorry for the delayed response - cloudy water is usually down to ammonia, so if you washed the media with tap water not the tank water it could cause an ammonia spike. If you do a water test - let us know the results and we can help you out further!
