​@440pressurewash I believe you can order special quick connects with a hose barb on the other end. That's probably what he used or he just used a 3/8 male quick connect and a hose that fit snug over the threads with a small hose clamp holding it in place since that line isn't under pressure this would work fine. I'm in the process of adding one of these to my 3200psi Predator but I'm actually disconnecting the first unloaded and using the second unloaded for the pressure control and the water dump. This other guy just put out a really good video showing you how about a month ago. Don't know his YT name.

Very helpful video. I run a 4gpm machine , all my houses are city water never need a buffer tank probably y I never moved up to a larger system, it takes a little longer to rinse a house but everything fits nicely in my van along with a 40 gallon soft wash system. I’ve been house painting for for 35 years always washed first. Very interesting how the washing business has grown, good luck with your wash business hard work always pays off 👍

Here is a great one. I have been slowly purchasing all the gear for softwashing. My first roof with the pump and batch mix and a quick front-of-house washdown. Will pay me more than the gear I have paid for. 3/4 & 1/2 Mixing valves, 1" manifold, check valves, connectors, hoses, filter screen, fittings, spray wand parts. I still need a water tank and tank for a surfactant, But I did buy a 30-gallon tank for batch loads. Yes, I look forward to this add-on service to my Handyman services. I will be buying a van to build out as the wash van. Parking is too hard when dragging a trailer around.

You won't waste any water if you do exactly what he did in the video. Just run the unloader garden hose back into to tank. Unless your use a garden hose for supply but then who cares right lol

I've had the same machine for over 2 years and It’s been great. The only issue I've ever had with it is if I leave the fuel on it will very slowly drip at the bottom of the carb. I've put new gaskets in it and made sure everything was tight but still does it. So I just turn the fuel off when I'm done and run all the fuel out of the carb. It will pull from a buffer tank but it has to be primed first. I've thought about buying another one and Siamese them together for when I have large concrete cleanings.

Any reason why there was still a small amount of water coming from the unloader hose when the trigger is pulled? Seems like the unloader is not fully seating when the trigger is pulled. Not sure if that makes a big difference or not. I'm about to pull the trigger on the same setup you have, looks to be a big improvement over what i have now.

Possibly the pressure when he pulls the trigger is still slightly higher than what is set at the external unloader valve so it lifts a small amount to let some water out

You're didn't have a thermal relief on the bottom side of you're axial pump? I just got my Predator Pressure washer but it's the 3200PSI 2.8 GPM one and mine has a thermal relief valve on the bottom right beneath the water inlet with a little black plastic fitting pointing away from operator. I'm curious do I need to add the external relief unloader still like you show in this video or could I run a hose connected to the thermal relief valve and running to my reservoir tank?

Don’t let the pressure washer idle without pumping water for more than a minute and you don’t need to worry about adding this at all. If you think you’re someone that may make that mistake then I’d add this.

@@nathan3647 honestly, I got a brand new Vive or 4 gallon a minute machine and couldn’t get it to start and I’m still having troubles with it because I had to move and had to do my work with my old pressure washer. I do landscaping most of the time, so I haven’t been able to prioritize getting it working and it’s a hard thing to return as it is a large item to ship so we’ll see

@@kevovernon Hi. the pressure gauge was just to make sure the new unloader valve pressure was set lower then the factory unloader valve. You don't need the pressure gauge after that. I already had mine set when I made the video. It is a little confusing...but Honestly I've built at least 10 other machines for others since this video and i Just plugged the new external unloader valve in without any adjustments and they all worked. I've used it on predator, Simpson, DeWalt, and all the homemade ones I built for some guys. It really does work! Nothing but great reviews from others in these comments and my own personal experience. Pumps are now lasting a long time! Hope this helps you.

At 4:53 , is that a pressure washing quick connect fitting inside of your spare garden hose? You just put a hose clamp on that? Just making sure it’s not some sort of barbed fitting inside of the garden hose. I bought the fittings on your description and the only thing I could see going in the spare garden hose is that male end quick connect and just clamp it down. It’s hard to tell on this video.

Thanks for the video!! have exact same unit and cant get it to work...I set the original regulator between 2500- 3000psi by checking gauge before putting the external on and then when i attach the external unloader and set regulator slightly lower by feel to the original I hardly can get 500 psi and can't get it to completely stop the dump flow when trigger pulled.. ive tried just randomly adjusting the regulators and sometimes can get it to work a little better randomly here and there but with no real definitive setting that works any tips any one? TIA

There's not a whole lot it could be. It may be possible you got a defective external unloader valve. Did you buy the one from the video? I only ask because a few guys on here found cheaper ones and had similar issues. Hope this helps.

Also i just took the little hose that came with the machine off of the chemical injector instead of just blocking and zip tieing like you did is that ok? And yes everything i bought from your links I was beginning to think the same thing that maybe I got defective unloader possibly

@@oscarramirez8110 yes. It really works gravity fed but the Buffer tank hose outlet has to be higher than the pressure washer pump. I used this machine for years with it set up this way

@@oscarramirez8110 1 inch might work but it depends how big your buffer tank is. You would need to keep at least 50 gallons of water in it at all times to have enough gravity flow pressure. Try it out and do a bucket test to make sure your getting the gpm you need for your machine. I have a video on my channel showing how to do a bucket test if it helps.

You don't need a water tank but a lot of guys use them because some houses that have older well pumps have poor water flow but Most modern homes have great water pressure. So the answer again is no you don't have to have a water tank with a 4gpm machine.

@@bryanbahling2877 yes you should plug off the factory chemical injector hose. Simply find a small bolt that fits snuggly in the clear tube and use a zip tie to tighten around it. That's what I did and it worked great.

@@catfisher420 sounds like a bad unloader valve. I'm not sure if adding an external unloader valve would fix this problem but I would love to know if it does. I just never had this problem to try it out for myself. But yeah, it sounds like your unloader valve isn't releasing the pressure causing your machine to overload. Also might blow a hose. I could be wrong though but that's my guess.

Remember, you have to have the external unloader psi turned down lower than the factory unloader. Do you have the flow going in the correct direction, it needs to be facing away from the pressure washer.

excuse my ignorance but why does the water get hot in the pump? isnt it still running even with no water going through it and wouldnt cold water cool it down? cuz its direct drive? thats where the heat comes from? and does it really keep the pump cold with no water going through? im just ordering equipment now but soon ill be the top pressure washer in my area =D

Good question my friend. Let's say you are in the middle of a house wash and the customer pats you on the back to ask you a quick question or you have to run back to the truck to grab something. It happens a lot! Anyways, At this point you are not holding the trigger down anymore and cold water is no longer flowing. The unloader valve that comes with your machine has told the pump to stop pulling more water from your water source. The water now has nowhere to go and it is just sitting in the pump spinning around and around getting very hot. All it takes a few minutes and your pump is taking damage to the seals inside. If you continue to do this house after house your pump will not last long at all. That's why a lot of guys are installing this external unloader valve.

Yes, my pressure washer is drawing off a gravity fed buffer tank. I actually just posted a video explaining how it works. The Video is called "small pressure washer on buffer tank"

There is a much easier cheaper way to do this. Years ago on a machine just like this one, I bought a thermal relief valve that screwed right into the pump, just removed one of the brass plugs to put it in. They cost around 10 to 20 bucks. Also, if you really want to play it safe with the pump, add a float valve switch to the tank, so that when it is almost empty, it shuts the engine off, fairly easy to tie it into the on/off switch. As you probably know, if it runs out of water, it can destroy the pump fairly quickly.

Hi, This machine comes with a thermal relief valve already installed but keeping water running through the pump is not what thermal relief valve is for. By the time the relief valve pops the pump has already reached a very hot temperature.

Are you certain that's not a pressure regulator on that pump? It is no bypass if there's no bypass.
