They’ve been hitting the hyperbole and spouting things like this around the clock for years, then (poorly) pretend to be surprised when multiple people decide to make attempts on his life. I guarantee you a solid percentage of the current administration, many political players on the left, and an enormous percentage of the leadership in our three letter agencies would’ve secretly (or not so secretly) celebrated if one of them pulled it off. Public school teachers and university administrators have gone on record giddily wishing the first shooter had succeeded, and we all saw the flood of TikTok’s of teenagers screaming or crying because he missed. They seem to genuinely believe that if only Trump and every single person who’s supported or voted for him were targeted and taken out, then the entire human race would forever live in perfect harmony. Now, after at least three people have been confirmed to have arranged attempts on DJT’s life, there are popular “influencers” and such who’ve “spontaneously” adopted nearly the exact same script, claiming that if DJT is elected in November that every person in the 2SLGBTQIAZP+-% community will be hunted for sport, along with virtually everyone else who “doesn’t look like him”, as if somehow any of that is remotely plausible. A large number of very vocal people seem to genuinely believe this, and when that hyperbole, BS, and rhetoric is cranked out nonstop from every major source of “reliable” information, it’s not a surprise to me that the wannabe martyrs come out of the woodwork. It really shows how far this country has decayed when multiple attempts on the life of the leading presidential candidate are spoken of in the media as if they’re his fault, and literal prayers for his safety posted on some platforms are flagged and removed as “divisive hate speech”.
