Allah told us that fasting the day and eating at night in Ramadan is the piety. but I'll try to tell why it's the case: we fast to obtain Taqwa (righteousness, God-fearing) and to obtain Taqwa is by following Allah's teachings. and following Allah's teachings need patience and self-jihad. Ramadan is a month of the year that trains us to strengthening the self and Increase stamina and patience so we can achieve Taqwa in other domains. without forgetting that fasting itself is a form of Taqwa. also, we can't forget the positive impact of fasting on human body if the Muslim ate at night and slept in a good way.
