You forgot to mention the 80% profit margins and price gouging of long term customers. Most companies have cut their property staff by 75% and push all their customers onto contactless platforms. They punish longtime customers through 10 to 30% annual rate increases. They push out customers because company executives receive bonuses based on move ins, not profits. This a nasty industry that does not value its customers or employees. Legalized usury. Never rent a unit for more than 4 months. You missed the ball on this one.

When I was shopping for a new car last, it was 2013, and I ended up with a 2013 Hyundai Sonata (terrible car, needed huge amounts of work the first couple years, and the stock tires are, I can only conclude, designed to kill the customer because no tire I've ever encountered in my life is this bad in even light drizzle). There were a grand total of five color options. White, black, silver, one I don't remember, and something called 'midnight indigo', which is a purple so dark that it's closer to black than purple. I chose midnight indigo because it was the most colorful choice I had...even though it's VERY not colorful.

So, people have fewer and smaller housing options because of real estate "investors", and real eastate "investors" make money off of storage even as things get worse for the rest of us. I can think of a few more reasons not to sell them land for storage besides having no other use for it. (By the way, how about a public park? Dog run? Break area for the three things around it? Something for everyone to enjoy and not just for lining investors' pockets?) How out of touch are the people making this show? I've enjoyed Freakonomics for years, but when I listened on their site, this episode literally had an ad for how to find happiness as an already rich person. Guys, you're not doing any good in the world with nonsense like this, and it's not entertaining. Please stop.

People buy grey, white or black because there are no other options. I couldn't find a Nissan rogue that wasnt grey. I hate grey. Give me green or burgundy, anything. And im a millennial.
