I bought similar power out put lights to yours for my VStrom. One is a 10 degree light and the other is a 20 degree light. I have the 10 degree light aimed for the center of the right lane and the 20 degree aimed for the white line of the right lane to pick up the ditch/road side. I also use a programmable controller to vary the output between low and high beam. They work very well and don’t seem to blindside oncoming traffic when on low beam.

You can use a fine grit sandpaper on the lens to diffuse the light a bit and widen the cones. Did this with mine and it helped create a more consistent illumination.

Hey, good ideal, what grit did you use? 600, 1200? Thanks.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to hook my lights up to a switch or to my high beams but after watching this i feel pretty confident about going with the high beam now haha.

I installed the thumper jockey lights from rocky mtn on my klr. I rarely night ride so I picked these up really just for daytime visibility to other traffic. They are super bright so I had to point them down slightly to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. I am much more visible now which is a win.

Do they have as tight of beams as these?
@kaipo5032 жыл бұрын
The switch will fit with a little modification. I cut that hard to take off factory cover plate open and got it to fit just right. A little dremeling here and there and it should slide right in. I almost got that exact switch you got but went with the spotlight version instead. Great video's keep up the great work.

Nice job. From here they seem to work well. On my BMW I have some 6,000 lumen Clear Lights. When I use them on High Beam at night they are amazing. So Bright! But, when I turn then to low beam it's like who shut off all the lights and until my eyes re adjust I struggle to see anything Lol!

Always a good idea to slip some sleeving or at least tape over single insulated wires, defence against chaffing... it's the electrician in me 😉

Can you please get your ECU Dyno tuned to see if that helps the KLR? In most cases, you get about 5 extra hp and ft-lbs for 650cc engines.

Two Wheel Dyno Works said they'll sponsor a video as soon as they have a flash available. Hopefully that's soon!

@@SwankyCatProductions it will be a KZbin first! Haha, i scan every day to see the results of such a test 😁 I think it will be ground breaking territory for the KLR because it will bump the KLR out of the 'barely capable of long distance touring' and into the territory of 'well capable of highway touring', especially in combination with a 16t sprocket. And with the current offerings of a 719cc big bore kit by eagle mike, in combination with a 17t sprocket, the KLR has a great future as a real ADV touring machine that approaches the $25k GS in practical capabilities.

Why Kawasaki didnt make that plug in tandem with the high beam switch Ill never know. That way they only come on when you hit your brights. I got pulled over the second night I rode my bike by an Alabama state trooper and had to unplug them. At the time I just had them hooked into the white plug

I am trying desperately to find the right connector on the website, but I am not seeming to match up the part number with the one you gave. Could you please go back and double check the part number so I can get the right one. I appreciate everything you do.

From the home page click "Connectors" from the list on the left. Then the MT 09 connections will be at the top left under "Seal Connectors". They have an "extra terminals" section at the very bottom.

Doesn't the headlight high beam use LED bulbs, I fitted a LED headlight bulb to my 2004 KLR 650 and that's plenty good enough.

Ben ,I saw the Kawi Green 23 KLR at the dealers, but it was a KLR S ,It was factory lowered 2 inches ,but you give up suspension travel. It almost looks like a Versys.
@SwankyCatProductions Жыл бұрын
Hey sorry I missed this Bill! I wondered how exactly the S model reduced ground clearance. That stinks, I'd hoped they changed the frame.
@thatguyb3rt Жыл бұрын
@@SwankyCatProductions I'm super late but throwing this out there for anyone that might be considering a 650S. I bought the S as I have a roughly 30" inseam and it's been a fantastic bike so far. I believe they're running a shorter front fork, a factory lowering link and a cut seat to achieve the drop. I've taken mine on some pretty rough stuff and haven't had any issues with suspension travel. The lights look great btw, planning on doing the same to mine soon.
