Kudos to all the Carillion staff who continued to work hard on this project to deliver it, despite the uncertainty surrounding their future. Lot of good people.

Great job being done to revitalise this important route. It would be great to have the line north of Corby upgraded, and a new south to east curve built at Manton Junction, allowing new journey opportunities for passengers, if i had the money, i would build it myself.

I think it would be possible by putting a curve towards peterbopugh at manton i think there were objections

Will the electrification stretch from Corby to Peterborough? would be logical?

I am told the problem is the tunnels south of Leicester station are built on top of huge Victorian sewers. Normally the base of a tunnel is lowered to allow the wires through, but this cannot be done. So the Midland Mainline is going to end up with bi-mode trains like the 80x series used on GWR. One day hopefully the Councils where diesel is still needed by the train will demand it is removed due to the air pollution this causes...

What if there was a chase. Which of these trains may to use? The DMU, Bi-mode, BMU as IP(EMU) Battery Train, Solar Train system (SMU), or Hybrid Hydraulic Hydrogen (Fuel Cell) train as HMU? Which ones you prefer for the future? As you know as this video form Kettering to Corby rail line.

The ultimate goal is for the Thameslink project to extend to Corby, hence why electrification is going as far as Corby.
@AshHill076 жыл бұрын
Thameslink won't be operating beyond Bedford., the ultimate goal is to electrify the entirety of the MML and start replacing the 43's and 222's with electric trains ... eventually ... although at this rate it'll probably end up with the same plan as the GWML and just half-arsing the wires and getting bi-modal units instead ...

As I said further down this thread, am always willing to cede to those with greater knowledge than myself in this area....that notwithstanding, when the town's local mp asks questions in Parliament on this very issue, it shows - to me, at least, that others have thought and have mentioned it also... "Tom Pursglove (Corby) (Con) There is a direct link between competition on the line, usage and lower fares. With welcome electrification coming to Corby, and I am grateful to Ministers for making that happen, will they look at options for extending Thameslink to Corby? Joseph Johnson I would be happy to discuss that proposal with my hon. Friend. Electrification can play a part in improving passenger experience and reducing journey times, and it is one of the things the Department continues to look at closely." hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2018-01-18/debates/35D66699-224D-4687-AE0D-499629D42125/PassengerRailUsage
