Up until 10 minutes ago I was thoroughly sketched out about residual solvents. You've changed my whole perception by pointing out that you breathe in way more uncombusted hydrocarbons while walking down the street from the tailpipes of the cars around you than from consuming solvent-based concentrates

This guy does a really good job explaining this. I didn’t fully understand how solvent based extracts worked but this is about as clear as it can get without showing me step by step visually and it seems solvent based is just as safe as solvent less at least if your buying from a dispensary

I do think hydrocarbon can be done great, and works best for efficiency and financially. But solventless extractions are the highest quality you can come across. They may yield less and be less efficient, but they go for a much higher price and are quality. I love high quality bho but most states are over run with very low quality, and often times CRC bho. CRC is filling up michigan dispensaries as "live resin".

And to be clear, the yields are not less efficient. The proper starting material and equipment can produce better yields than solvent. My team just got over a 6% return on bubble hash a few daya ago. Same strain was around 4.5% with BHO

@@timr8431 this is a great point, I don't have lot of experience in this you sounds like you Do. I've only made hash never made bho before, but I've heard some strains can yield very low with hash, where generally any strain that has high thc/terpene content can get a good bho yield. But from your answer I think maybe I've been misinformed.
@timr84312 жыл бұрын
@@geekinhard343 it depends heavily on the type of trichome heads. You want medium length stalks with "weak necks" and bulbous heads for ice water extraction. If you have that, you will 100% get better yields. But it is true, BHO has it's place, and some strains work better for BHo

Love your videos. I’ve learned so much. Fact based science. Thanks for making these available. One question I’m wondering if you can answer. I heard that in order to add flavors and scents to a CBD oil based tincture, you have to refine it more and therefore you lose some of the minor cannabinoids. So unflavored tinctures are perhaps a better choice. Like eating a whole orange rather than drinking OJ. Is this true?

How many hours at 30 hg 105 degrees will it take to boil out hydrocarbon is there is a oz slab? Hp slab? Lb slab? It’s the thickness of the slab going to determine boiling time for the hydrocarbon to vape out? Just want an example of time and hg in the vac it takes to be consumer safe thank you
@fredkapp4983 жыл бұрын
Thickness of slab determined by vacuum oven size and number of shelves. Even smaller slabs take 48-96 hours and they usually flip the slabs several times. Bigger slab obviously more time some of it is strain dependent. Also how much you warm up and off gas before you put under pressure creating muffin effect.

Great info and video, but the only thing a small grower can do but solvetless extractions. Like rosin press or cold water hash ?? Do you have any ideas ? Thanks for info 👍
@Will_Wel3 жыл бұрын
A lot of the big guys are starting to use these methods as well. They now have large scale water hash extraction machines. And one of the newest things coming back into popularity is fresh frozen bud into water hash then pressed AKA live rosin
@fredkapp4983 жыл бұрын
It seems if you have commercial freeze dryer tech your hash is ready to press in 24 hours as opposed to 10-14 days plus retain all terpenes unfortunately using Fresh Frozen Whooe Plant returns extremely low 4-8% hence the most expensive prices. I guess small grower is subjective term these days

What’s the difference between distillate and Winterized?
@PrecisionExtractionSolutions3 жыл бұрын
Distillation and Winterization are 2 separate steps within the extraction process which achieve 2 separate outcomes. Depending on what type of end product you're making, you may not want to go all the way to "distillate." We have some really helpful blog posts on our site which break these 2 processes down. It is not true that SFE with CO2 has limited extraction efficiency. You can control pressure/temperature and change the property of CO2 to have more extraction efficiency. You can add dopant (second solvent) to modify the solubility of the target compounds in CO2. Your company do not sell the SFE equipment and try to promote the solvent extraction equipment. Good video anyway.
@Will_Wel3 жыл бұрын
Just because the majority of people use the easy way and do hydrocarbon extraction doesn't mean it's the way to go. And maybe at your lab they're pulling out all the solvent but I can guarantee you most places are not. You can literally smell the solvent in most this stuff. And who says solventless is the inferior method? You can get excellent yields from water hash and or rosin

I would think most legal states regulate ppm. However you're right a good cold cured live rosin made from 6 star fresh frozen whole plant hash is great. BHO done by great brands 710 labs,Suprise Suprise,Alien is fire hydrocarbon done right usually highest in terpenes as well.

as i hear you the 'truth' is a mis-statement. ' ... completely removed' solvents really means that some do remain behind after the heating/vacuum step. the amount is some ppm level that is believed to be safe for humans. you would have done well to use those instruments in the lab and show us how the area percent of the solvents decreases with processing. and what the final levels are. truth in advertising in this business would make this data available. and add too what the carcinogenic ppm levels too are of the solvents cited as 'removed'
@TheDrizzykush2 жыл бұрын
No fool, if you purge it properly they are all removed. If you purchase any live resin or BHO products at a dispensary, ask for a COA. I’ve boughten more grams than I can count here in the FL MMJ program, every single COA has showed the residuals as “ND-NONE DETECTED”. These are all legitimate giant corporate 3rd party labs that test these products, only 3 labs are approved to test these in FL, the DOH is very serious and strict here with the program. And believe me, some of the distillate shows around 40ppm on these test, so they can detect even the smallest amount. Believe me if you’ve ever grilled using a propane tank, used a lighter, driven a gas vehicle, been in heavy traffic, etc…you’ve inhaled hydrocarbons. Please stop with the uneducated nonsense that it can’t be purged out. It absolutely can, and is in many legitimate markets.
