That is a wonderful tale. And a great credit to the guardians of heritage Singapore that this piece of history has not been lost. It was certainly well treated by works and workers from a former time which saw it so obviously incorporated into the modern pavement system. It would be nice to think that the replacement paving laid down in Nov 2014 could now have etched into it a brass plate which records the 3 mile marker - in other words that 'the story' can be seen in two places - The heritage Museum and on the street site.

These are part of the old location marking system in Singapore. Stones in other places on earth are part of the systems elsewhere.

I'm surprised at the kind of tools used to extract it. Not quite the delicate operation I expected.
