don't worry about your accent, it's very understandable, you have a good pronounciation! I generally like to watch videos in 1.25/1.5x speed and it's still very clear, which is a good sign

Ever since I learned that Ad Blue is urea solution, I've been thinking it could be an awesome source of nitrogen compounds for home chemists. Cool to see somebody show it on KZbin so I don't have to get my finger out of my ass. :)

I thought so as well, that's why I made this video. It's not really viable to do it this way, because you can buy prilled urea in the store for way cheaper, but it might have the advantage of being more chemically pure than some fertilizer. My point was to show that it's there, which it was. I hope the video helped!

@@petesmiscellaneousdiscover655 In my country, companies don't really like to sell pure(ish) chemicals to consumers. You can easily buy mixed fertilisers containing urea, but pure urea is really difficult to find, at least according to my internet search. I found some on ebay, but that need to be imported and the shipping costs are twice the product costs. AdBlue, on the other hand, can be found for the equivalent of 0.65USD per litre, which turns out to 1.86USD per kg of urea (if my maths isn't bogus).

@@Kenionatus Don't forget about all the time (cost of labor) and electricity you'll need to evaporate it down. It still could do under 2USD per kg I believe. This week I'm planning to add a Sciencemadness publication into the description with more detail, so you can get more info and have it on paper. I'm really happy I helped. Good luck.

Gas stations here sell AdBlue really cheap in bulk, so you can fill up your tank or your own canisters there. Six months ago I could get a liter of Adblue for as little as $0.80, now it's around $1.40

I have a different question, can I make the opposite of this process cause I can't find the adblue in my area, as long as adblue is urea and water 🤔can you give me an idea if I'm right
@petesmiscellaneousdiscover6553 жыл бұрын
Are you asking whether you can make AdBlue at home? No doubt you can and you only need urea and water. They have to be quite pure, but there is people refueling their cars with used fryer oil or doing worse things to their cars, so it would probably work.

@@petesmiscellaneousdiscover655 I appreciate your support, can you please tell more about what you mean by pure urea?pure water? Do you mean the same water which is used for adding to the batteries?deionized water? And can I use the urea which is used in farming? Thanks in advance
@dashingdave26653 жыл бұрын
I would do it, this water is fine. I looked at gardening urea and it is 98% here, from the MSDS. Then just put about 33%, so 330 grams in 1 litre water. The other thing is, I would dissolve it in about half the water, mix it with a little heat then pour it through a filter and flush with the last part of water.

Then go ahead and watch paint dry :) Seriously, if this is not a good enough video then what are you even doing here? Is it worth your time writing the comment just to make the guy feel bad?
