My husband, who is South African, introduced me to rugby. It remains the only sport I regularly watch. I love this movie and it still makes me cry. I love the scene where the bodyguard, who is always so serious, is grabbed and hugged by a total stranger. He doesn't know what to do, and we almost see a smile! I also love the little boy who is, at first, shooed away. At the end, he is picked up and they're jumping together.

I lived in South Africa for a few years, arriving in the country just a few days before Mandela retired, but the spirit of that World Cup was still going strong in the hearts of everyone who remembered that rugby match. It was the very goal that Mandela needed to unite the country after decades of apartheid and racial discrimination. Mandela and Francois Pienaar were a fantastic pair to work together in taking the Springboks all the way to the World Cup. The New Zealand All Blacks were a very worthy team to play against. They made Pienaar push his team to their limits and beyond, to give it their all and no holding back. That is what makes your country's rugby team one of the greatest, too. I tip my hat to the All Blacks as excellent and skilled rivals to the Springboks for giving us the greatest rugby game ever in the history of the sport. God bless both South Africa and New Zealand and their respective teams.

The symbolism is on purpose. The officers could just taunt the kid and almost arrested him but decided to leave him alone and were kind enough to get him a Coke. By the end they're holding him like he's a surrogate son. I think the underlying message is that we can use our power to nurture and heal instead of hurt and antagonize.

We are struggling hard and the results are quite remarkable in order to get rugby popular here in Brazil. just 10 years ago there were practically nothing. Now it's the fastest growing sport down here. Hopefully we will be a pain in the butt for the major teams really soon! Go tupis! Cheers.

I live in America and America's favorite sport is football but I respect the sport of rugby and South Africa which also they have the same passion there as we do here with football... This Indian always gets me chills... And I was happy for their friends... Now I know sports are just in games and are more in life than sports... But we need a break from reality sometimes and love us chooses a certain sport... People deal with daily problems and politics and depression.. so when we watch our favorite team in our favorite sport.. it can make a difference in our lives especially if your team is winning and there are times when we see our teams losing.. but you got to stick with them if they make the championship and win like this team did it'll be all worth it and it shows us that even though that life itself is stacked against us when it comes to odds that you keep fighting you keep trying just maybe just maybe you can reach your goal..

Bryan Habana attended this game, it was at this game he truly discovered what rugby was all about. Chester Williams was obviously a huge inspiration, Mandela was also impactful on his life. Twelve years later, he was instrumental in South Africa winning another rugby world cup. Mandela, the Springboks, and that tournament drastically changed that country for the better. The tournament encouraged so many black South Africans to play rugby, who greatly changed the trajectory of the national side, and their country, by encouraging racial harmony.
