One of the top rated comments said years ago "We been at war with the Middle East for so long people don't seem to care nor pay attention to our troops or the cause.". I'm thinking this now after fall of Kabul and losing the 20 years of war in Afganistan. Taliban replaced with taliban. 20 years of war but it hasn't been noted in pop culture like Vietnam War. Almost like a forgotten war.

During the Gulf War, some American helicopters really played music while flying over operational areas. This practice had several purposes. Playing loud music could serve as a form of psychological warfare to intimidate the enemy, causing confusion and fear among enemy troops. As for the soldiers, hearing familiar music could boost morale and provide a sense of connection to home. This practice extends the historical use of music in the military for various purposes, including military marches and patriotic songs to uplift the troops' spirits. The use of music as a psychological tool was also notable in other wars, such as the Vietnam War.

I remember being one of the first 44 man Security Police Air Base Ground Defense Teams that were called to the Phillipines during Operation Palace Blitz (Coup Attempt that jacked the whole country) They were loading us on a Freedom Bird Contract 747 at Kadena AIr Base. New PCS Service members were leaving the plane with there families in Civilian attire, Class A's and Class'bs and we were boarding from the back in Camo, face paint live weapons, laws and grenades. We blasted Jim Morisson on the way to Clark. Im also man enough to admit, I puked my guts out in the head about for times and almost pissed my pants a few times that I was that scared. That was early in my career before Desert Shiled/Desert Storm and this shit now so I have a very fond spot in my heart for our men and women serving now. But, Kick the Jim Morrison, its therapy! That Vietnam quote is hella funny. It’s feels so self-referential to war films being that most try to copy apocalypse now and the psychedelic rock of the doors. So cliche. It’s like him saying this is overdone af, can we get our own shit

Complements the film too, with it's many vietnam and full metal jacket references (what they want the war to be like) versus the actual reality of their war.
