it wasn’t the label that went against it tho… fiona herself asked to change producers, because she wasn’t feeling it with jon. whether people liked the final version or not it was fiona’s decision

Sorry, it’s just original with another singer doing it just like Fiona. I’d love to hear more of her work covered, but Fiona is mostly a autobiographic writer, and many of her songs may not work for other singers. Hope she’s working on more music; she’s a genius!

this was part of the "musicans' birthdays" segment of live from herewhich honors musicians whose birthday it was that week from all different genres, so thats kind of the model. If you watch the whole segment, part of the fun is being surprised by something you didnt expect and the genrehopping; so like an "original cover" would kind of defeat that

I am a little surprised. I know that Chris Thile adores Fiona Apple and her work and he for sure likes Sarah as well - but: Why did he make her sing that ? Everybody compares that to the original and at least those who feel music realize that this is not even coming close anywhere. She is just touching the surface while Fiona lives it with a her outstanding voice. That he should not have done to Sarah (or saved her from doing that). What an embarrassment...
