Maybe not the average person butt a person with depression I slightly understand. I do not know all the details and don’t even know if all the details in the series was correct but that’s my take. Because they are shredded in the media. If they were 17 struggling with mentle illness or anything else for that matter, they became folia due ,.its very sad all around. I think she clarified, yea she did villainous things, she may be a villian, but she was a person. Everyone asks why do these things happen, reasons aren't excuses. I think she just got tired of it so she started to tell him to just do it. It was a dark relationship in my opinion and was not healthy what so ever. They had conversations like that every night, it prob felt normal to her, I mean she was young and naive. The boy would belittle her, plus they were kids. How many kids do this dumb shit and tell their friends they hope they die not realizing words can actually be permanent? Elle Fanning was fantastic in this role (as she was in the remake of the Beguiled) and I have to say why all the sympathy for Michelle Carter? She wasn't the one who died. Conrad was the victim. The Roy's will never have their son back again. Yes, she had her own problems and needed therapy. Yes, she had an eating disorder. BUT her little scene of playing the "grieving girlfriend" wouldn't have come about if Conrad had changed his mind at any point on the night he was going to kill himself. I think if he had only didn't take/broke/or forgot his phone, this would have never of happened. He seemed to have wanted to live, only he didn't want to live with his shyness and social anxiety. I think the Michelle Carter situation forgot all of that. Also, I believe it the situation was reversed if Conrad was the one who told Michelle to "get back in the truck," and IF SHE DIED as a result. The court, nor anyone would have been sympathetic to him. He would have been portrayed as an abusive bastard. What a slap in the face to the Roy family who loved this kid.

Wow. Okay so, there are definitely three sides to every story buuuut giving this woman more attention, particularly from a celebrity working on a show for Hulu, wasn’t going to do anything positive for Conrad Roy’s family or for Michelle Carter. This isn’t like Anna Sorokin or the Tinder Swindler, Conrad is deceased. Michelle on the other hand, served 11 months in jail and she’s alive hopefully getting treatment for her issues. Besides, the court that tried this case did more to provide Justice than any court of opinion or your average Hulu-binge watcher will. Additionally, there have already been shows and specials on this tragedy on HBO etc, so Hulu’s series is coming in late, and looks like a tasteless attempt to sensationalize the story and Michelle Carter’s life while also re-traumatizing Conrad Roy’s family with media attention recirculating. I mean seriously, the text messages between them say plenty and so did her friends in court. Conrad doesn’t get to provide his “side” either so at this point, as far as this show goes, the scales are balanced. I’m of the opinion that out of respect for his family, she should never speak to the entertainment world about this horrific situation. Elle Fanning took the mature, empathetic route by steering clear of Michelle Carter.

How cand people be like this blame everything on one person like that. From all we saw michelle had problems too and she really was inlove u can see all their text on the internet. Conrad liked the attention he was gettin from her after a while and he just complains to her and respondes when he needs her She was by his side all the time but after a while i get she had enough. Think about the emotions she goes to everyday thinking he’s gonna kill himself.. it can happen at any moment.THAT is emotional trauma for her to. Who know what the pills made to her cause I think she got in a place where si didn’t realised what is real or not anymore… people Should just read their mesaages to realize what kind of relationship they had..

Don’t justify what she did. She clearly said “get back in the vehicle” which encouraged him to commit suicide. End of story. Imagine how his family felt. It’s not about her. It’s not about how she felt. She encouraged a suicide because of her own selfishness of not wanting to deal with it anymore.

@Safiya Anissa but again it doesn’t justify for her to get involved. She should’ve just stopped when she had the chance. I’m not saying it was all her fault because yes he would’ve done it anyways but enabling it is unhealthy for her mental state as well

@Safiya Anissa I’m sorry to hear that happened to you, And I’m glad you did the right thing. It’s safe to say she should’ve just got out when she could before dealing with all that

The part of the show that irritates me is the Glee stuff, mainly the scene with the singing. I get that she used quotes from Glee in her texts, but that filler stuff is annoying and really doesn’t add anything to the show in my opinion.

I feel like it was added to make the point about how psychopathic she was… like she literally studied Lea’s emotions so that she could pretend she had all these feelings and gain attention from others. She had to teach herself to copy that performance to gain sympathy.

I think its so great that elle fanning is fanning out on a murderer. The way she talks about her is sympathetic. What about Conrad? I'm not watching this trash and I'm not surprised to see hollywood bastardizing these things.

Elle Fanning is way too pretty and well known to play this part... I'm sure she was awesome, but I can see this 'woman' bragging that 'Elle played her in the movie' kind of thing and I don't think this 'woman' should even get THAT out of what she did!!!

I have a great idea for law enforcement in the United States: Why don't they just put all the kids in jail who play cops-and-robbers? One pretends to be a representative of the state's monopoly on the use of force, and the other wants to be a criminal. Anyone who engages in such criminal behavior at such a young age should be locked up preventively anyway, before he or she can become a danger to society! Besides, it can happen that children also kill each other during this terribly dangerous game.

They don't have enough room to lock everyone up. They let out people 10x more dangerous than her every day. Hers was still a nonviolent crime.
