Correction... the "S" stands for short as opposed to the regular sized blade version "Dobermann IV Africa" Thats what you get when you assume, lol, so its NOT South, its Short...

I have a cigar recommendation. It’s a rocky Patel vintage 1990. I think it’s a 12 year aged cigar. Pretty decent in my opinion. Iv bought a few over the last couple of years and I’d like to know what ya think. Just curious.

58 hrc is the perfect blade hardness especially in n690. Any harder and the steel could chip under hard use. These blades are made to last for life. Also the steel needs to meet specific military requirements
@davidsalvador60316 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff, not my style but ER blades are good quality (though you pay for it 👉) Handles are Forprene indeed. And to add to your wealth of information, Puma knives were famous for testing hardness on every single knife and their knives had the dent of the testing machine, and some Muela knives from Spain where I live have their HRC value next to the steel type on the blade

JEFF, This is an example of Marketing Psychology. Make two products with the same materials. Spend a little extract on packaging(the presentation), finish the product in a more attractive way(make it shiny), Put one extra thing with it, than, charge 4X the price. Most will go for the more costly one, thinking it's better when it isn't. Your paying $500+ for a brand name and packaging. Anything over $300 needs to be hand made. With at least one "one of a kind" feature. Otherwise go for SPEC's first, reputation second, Packaging and Name Brand last.

Can you do a video over balisongs comparing Tang pins/Zen pins to screws. Which is better long term, is one easier to maintain, does one spin faster than the other, ect.
@Vinyl3896 жыл бұрын
slade bedingfield Zen pins last longer, but they're harder to maintain. Tang pins need almost no work. Generally speaking Zen pins are better for lockup and wear over time, but you do need to maintain them more.

for n690 i'm surprised the RC is 58 rather the 62 myself
@BushCampingTools5 жыл бұрын
They harden to HC58 because according to Bohler technical people, this gives a good HRC value for outdoor use plus enough Chromium still in solid solution (not too much tied up in Cr carbides) to maintain good corrosion resistance. How do I know this? Well, because I have corresponded with some technical people at Bohler (in my real job) . Yes one can indeed harden past HRC58, especially because this N690 was designed as a high speed stainless tool steel for milling applications at high temperature and the addition of Cobalt helps to prevent the tool from lose of hardness at high temperature.

I'm sorry, that's way too overpriced. Maybe in the $150-$200 it would be feasible. As a bladesmith and collector, it disgusts me that they think they can sell something in that price range for what it is. Extrema Ratio is overpriced in general. You just pay for the name. If you are going to drop $700, support a bladesmith. We need the money to live, and you are going to get a better knife.
@OF019756 жыл бұрын

If I wad up a piece of aluminum foil, it will always be unique and un-reproducible to the finest detail. It's still worthless, except for the recycle value. This is one of those. Pulled out my StrongArm in the BDZ-1 steel, and decided it was still a better knife even at 1/10 the cost. This knife is for stupid people with way too much money.
