Videos like this show the difficulties of small "mom and pop" businesses today. At one time this is where people did business before the big supermarkets, franchise restaurants and malls. Within the last year in my town the last small hardware store that had the stuff Home Depot never heard of, the independent pharmacy with a soda fountain (122 years in business) and an old time neighborhood grocery with fresh meats and produce closed. I guess even the big ones will close when everyone works and shops from home and you never have to go out of the house again.

If you are ever in the northern part of Mississippi, then come and visit Corinth where you can visit the oldest drug store (Borrom’s Drug Store) in the state of Mississippi and eat a slug burger. You can also see a lot of Civil War history within Corinth and Shiloh, TN, which is only about 20 minutes or so north of the state line. You can eat some great catfish at Hagy’s Catfish Hotel located in Shiloh on a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River just down the road from Shiloh National Military Park.

My takeaway from this is that when you drive America's main routes it all seems the same and homogenized, but when you drive down the byways there is regional diversity. That said, I don't find this tour nostalgic but incredibly sad because once fabulous places are now creepy deserted ghost towns! To me it is heartbreaking that most people would rather spend megabucks at a theme park then experience a local bowling alley or mini golf course. Why have hearty regional food when you can chow down on McDonald's, Burger King or KFC? I'll tell you why. because it tastes better and also different, depending on where you are in this once great country of ours!

To me the tour was nice and sad at the same time. Thanks for showing light to hidden towns that people wouldn't normally see. However u also showed light to how evil people can be. Each property you showed reviled that the people and families that once lived there were forced out. No sign of voluntarily abandonment. Forced to leave. Yet to leave the land in an abandoned state as memory of the evil that was done. Do your research. The dolls n the shot up car are a prime example, of the evil. This was not a happy video. Yet your video wasn't a history lesson jus entertainment

You ended it in Natchez, Ms! You could have went to the mall there and did a Dead Mall, video. When I was growing up there was a Bath and Body Works, Claire's, Payless Shoes, Stage, a book store, Jcpenneys, Shoe Dept, Catos and Belk. Now there is just a Belk, Shoe Dept, Catos and Hibbits Sports then some random stores. All the food businesses closed in the mall.. Still has a movie theater though.
