I can tell he is a hard worker. My husband is the same way. He will work until it is done. This was a beautiful transformation. It looked like it had been neglected for a long time because of real life happening. 3 Kids and all but now must have been the time to get it done and put back to where it was so that you can enjoy it. If you're renting, you may be able to plant along the fence area. When they grow, it'll provide privacy. Or you can get 50 ft. Natural Wood Snow Fence from Home Depot or Lowes

Root-pruning cuts should be done at a distance of at least three to five times the trunk diameter from the outside of the trunk. For example, if the trunk is 2 feet in diameter, the cut should be made at least 6 to 10 feet from the trunk. The closer to the trunk you cut the tree root, the more significant the effects are to your tree.

You have cleaned your yard before the hurricane that hit Florida and nearby counties, you have been very lucky to clean the gutter of the roof that is essential and above all, trimming the tree has made it possible for the gale to not tear off a branch and destroy your house .

Nice but cutting the roots on the one tree will cost thousands to remove the dead tree down the road. Should have raised the platform or cut down the whole tree.
