What great tips on drawing. " Spend a little bit of time each day, you will be surprised how much you will grow." Such true words. I love how now that I have been dedicating myself to learning and practicing DAILY, I have noticed a huge improvement. Learning to draw what you see is a skill, but overtime...it gets better. Trust me. If you put in the time the talent will come. So many gems in this video and the teaching style is so good. Relaxed, encouraging, and just FUN. The exact thing every "EXTREME Beginner" needs to build confidence and to encourage one to keep on going. I really like the idea too of doing these practices over and over. A few times done again and again you learn muscle memory and the technique, brushstroke, water/paint ratio....all just begins to meld. It really is like watching MAGIC happen before your very eyes. Thanks @Chris Petri for investing so much time in us. I know I certainly appreciate every morsel of education.

Thank you Chris! 20 years ago my art teacher in school told me that I can't paint. That I can draw well but I can't paint. No advises on how to get better or anything. So for 20 years I haven't even tried because why to try when I've already been told that I just can't do it. Couple of weeks ago I found your extreme beginners videos and decided to give it a go. For my huge surprise I found out that with your help I CAN paint, my paintings look beautiful and most importantly - it's FUN. So thank you so much for these videos.

Great tip on drawing Chris. Just a bit each day makes a huge difference. When I was in grade school I had a teacher that required us to draw a picture every school day for homework. I still have some of them. I remember going with my parents when I lived in NH to a scenic spot to draw. What an amazing memory.

The park bench painting is wonderful. I'll be doing that one with you and adding it to my sketchbook. Thank you for a lovely demonstration of the process for creating that and for the kind of feeling the finished piece inspires. By the way, I'm a palette watcher and couldn't help noticing something interesting on your palette as you were working. At about thirty one and a half minutes in, the largest mixing area on your palette got the head of a rat-like creature on it that stayed there and watched you paint for quite some time. As that mixing area dried, the rat-like creature got fatter and fatter and even got two little legs down at the bottom. It stayed there and watched you finish that painting and do the sketch for the next one before it was obliterated at about the forty-seven-and-a-half-minute mark.

Hello chris! Thank you for another fantastic video chock full of all your kind and methodical explanations and instruction. You are so appreciated! I am curious, when you do your preliminary sketch are you drawing with a mechanical pencil or a pen? I know some people say you should use watercolor pencils to do this. What is your opinion? Thanks so much :-)
