No doubt Social Services were "working with the family, we are going in once a week" They give druggies the old carrot and stick, "give up drugs and we will help you." Perhaps if they took away the kids and said, "Right, if you want your children back, sign up to this rehab course, and stay clean for a year."

Dumb idea. Putting the kids through the care system, which can be damaging. And then you’re still not treating the cause of the drug addiction, your treating a symptom. After that rehab it’s all nice and good, but then the family is right back into their problems from before. Stop treating them like criminals where you’re forcing them into essentially prison.

The parents probably ended up in jail or something and the family or social services are perhaps caring for the children, I would hope! That’s drug addiction and it’s so sad because addicts for the most part are good people but get caught up for whatever reason in the drug game. I think almost every family has been touched by an addict or alcoholic these days. 😢Sad, really IMO. Hope they get clean! 😊
