This is most likely my favorite video. I think so many of us can relate. As crafters and creative people we see potential in so many things. I gave away 8 full trash bags of fabric and 5 of yarn in our last move, it’s been a year now snd my heart still hurts a bit for the fabric mainly. I know truly though I will not have the time in many many years to use it all. Still somehow there was a a physical response to letting go of precious potential. 😊 I wish I could say it was rewarding and refreshing but truly it was just necessary.

❤❤❤I'm not a crocheter (I was, as a kid/teen) but I'm a quilter/sewist/fabric hoarder. (I watch your videos because they bring me joy!) This video spoke to me in so many ways. Two years ago, I did the exact same purge of fabric that I had fallen out of love with. Much of it was expensive Civil War reproduction fabrics that were as I may have said, EXPENSIVE. I also had tons of WIPs, mostly quilt tops and blocks I'd made to make more tops. I wound up donating much of it, especially the quilt tops, blocks and repro fabric to Quilts of Valor and even more of it to local animal shelters, who have volunteers who sew cage pads, crate covers and blankies for the animals (animals are my biggest passion, especially CATS!! HI, MR. PICKLES!!) I felt good about myself, similar to how you felt, I think. And I do swear that although a lot of it had been hidden in closets, etc, this house DEFINITELY feels lighter!!❤❤❤

Not just because we get some really juicy declutter content, but also because it's an opportunity for personal growth and maturity. It takes a lot of responsibility to acknowledge when something that you love has turned into a problem. It takes even greater maturity to do all you can to fix said problem. Kudos to you for not just brushing it under the metaphorical rug or finding more storage solutions for all your yarn as a lot tend to do. I absolutely love the little stash squirrel pin. I have a plain pennant of fabric that I DIYed to hold my pins in a way I can enjoy them as a decorative wall hanging.

I’m old and I have several hobbies. I knit, crochet, make quilted ornaments, purses. I used to quilt, but not anymore. So I’ve decided to do what you’re doing. Donate, keep and pitch. You’re doing a great job.

I've been doing declutter with Cas but have not done my craft room yet. When I saw your video I knew it was a sign! I'm still sitting on the floor overwhelmed lol. I have yarn and craft stuff in several areas and it's time to organize and let go. Thank you for the motivation! I hope to find someone who can use a great donation.❤

Last year I donated a giant garbage bag full of yarn to local veterans and it felt good. Recently started cleaning out my office and it’s not easy. I’ve also itemized and inventoried every skein of yarn I have and put it into notion. It was long and tedious but great that now I have a digital searchable database of all of my yarn.

Well done, Elise!! I would've been the same way..."what if I need it and gave it away?" but to add to that..."what if I can't find it again??" ACK!!!! So happy that the organization got back to you and it was timely since it gave you the 3 days to get 'er done.

Thnx much for the link Elise, am in! Have a young crochet homeschooling student and she and I will really enjoy learning more together! Crochet is a wonderful skill for anyone to learn, it is for a lifetime. Even taught my own sons when they were young and they loved it.

I've been working on ami projects from a year ago to lessen my stash. Not sure what I will do with the results but it definitely takes up less room. I am right there with you. I struggle with hoarding too. My dad is a hoarder but way worse than I. By seeing his behavior it reminds me to let go of stuff when I am emotionally able to. 💖💖💖

I have to share this. When I first started quilting, my "craft" room was the ironing board in the hallway and the plastic picnic table that doubled as the dinner table. Now, my craft room has my bed, my treadmill and the internet router.

Thank you for sharing this video with us. I love how real and honest you are about your situation with all the things that are hard to part with! I am constantly feeling guilty about the supplies for crafting and nail polish that I have purchased and then have donated. I wish that I could just learn my lesson but I just keep on trying to do better. I was also raised in a home that kept everything! We are definitely a product of our environment I believe.😉🧶💅🏻

I am in North Dakota and we have a small mission group that makes hats, mittens, gloves, scarves and more for the homeless and less fortunate. I certainly hope your charity contacts you. We work with donated yarn, because when you consider we crochet/knit approx 1500 beanies with mittens/gloves and scarves to go with them it is a blessing when people donate yarn to us!

They did get back to me and they took all the yarn and supplies! Made me so happy but they did ask if it was all my personal stash??? They couldn't believe one person would have that much! 🤣

My craft is a mess, such a mess that I'm overwhelmed when I even think about organizing it. Yarn is not just in the craft room. There's a basket full in my bedroom, the living room, the den, and several in the garage. And then there's the junk journal supplies, the sewing supplies, the painting supplies, the cricut supplies, the jewelry making...I need help!

What i do when I'm feeling overwhelmed by my stash spreading is pick one basket/bin/bag/pile/drawer (it's spread out😂) and that's my active yarn. The rest is on hold until I use at least half of my active yarn. It encourages me to work through what I have and forces me to get creative when I'm working with a small (section of my) stash rather than the whole thing. Also, I only do this like once a month so I don't get too frustrated by the limitations and just quit.
