Holy cow, I'm exhausted just watching you! How many miles or steps did you do? Lol. There's no way your gma could have the physical portion of this declutter! Last video, there was a comment about moving the sewing desk in front of the window for better lighting. I second that. I would find a way to display the beanie babies and other stored collectibles. Not only would she then be able to see them, but it would also free up some storage space. You have enough wall space, so treat that as storage, too: display shelves or cabinets, hang photos and paintings, display grandchildren's art projects. With Swedish death cleaning, she also recommends passing belongings on to descendants. Maybe there are some Christmas decorations she's ready to hand down.

As a reformed hoarder, I see the beanie babies and the books that will never be read and I can feel the anxiety in my chest. Kudos to you for being patient!

You are a sweetheart Gabby ! Glad you took time off. I’m sure you need it. For elders, the life lived is their things. To get rid of it is hard because it may feel like our essence here on earth is dissipating. If that makes sense. Hugs❤

I've been going through my parents home, slowly. Dad passed nearly 3 years ago at 95, and mom's nearly 98. Their home looked fine, but at the time of his passing, extra rooms, closets, storage areas were discovered, and the sorting began. It has to be at Mom's speed, not easy. But, when she is gone, my siblings and I should have a much easier time of unloading, closing the house. I can't help but wonder what your grandmother's children think of how much there is in your grandmother's home? Your sorting will pay off hugely if and when downsizing is needed. We'll done!

It WAS a satisfying video just seeing the sewing drawers vacuumed and then the spools of thread laid down by color!🙌🏻 ( because that’s how I have mine and you evidently heard me through the screen, amazing!)😅🤣😂

If that was my room I would remove those doors to "the closet of doom" and put up nice curtains there for easier access and I think it would look really nice like that! I just love ur content!

Eye roll on the "priceless" beanie babies what a scam lol You're so patient, you and your grandma are doing great

have you considered discussing with your grandmother getting shelves with glass goors that have a lock or she can put a childsafe lock on so she can display her pretty items without worrying about the children getting in and causing harm to the items on display

The olive green sewing box on the top of the closet!!!! My mother had the exact same one! She would be close to your grandmother's age. It was like, awwwwww, I know that box!!! I've seen it! Great job!

You are a good daughter, granddaughter, mom and "wife". You amaze me with your energy. The things your grandma is nervous about the kids breaking anything maybe see if there is someplace high to display them. That way hopefully they won't get broken but she can still admire them.

@@nancyoleksy Yes ,and those curio cabinets are a glut on the market,Gabbi could probably find one cheap on Facebook marketplace.

The reason that us old grandmas don’t declutter anymore is because we don’t have a young Gabbi to run up and down the stairs for us! Thank you!

If you’re talking about Longaberger baskets, provide a way for her to actually use and enjoy them. I LOVE baskets but hate visual clutter so all my notecards, address book, pens ,stamps, etc.are in one basket. The advantage of this over being in a drawer is when I need to write a few cards,I just take the whole basket to the dining room table or my recliner and I have EVERYTHING that I need. Even if I have to pause ,it’s still in the card basket until I get back to it and instead of a pile of stuff sitting around, you just see a beautiful basket sitting on the table. (She could have her cross stitch project in one for now.). My friend lined one of her baskets with foil and put all of her nail polish, remover, cotton balls, files, clippers, etc.inside because her family couldn’t stand the smell of it ,so she could just take the whole basket out to the porch and give herself a complete mani/pedi.🙌🏻 Maybe she could use the pretty “Princess House” containers for hair or jewelry items on her dresser or bathroom or even for teabags and sugar packets in her kitchen. At the very least, have a little yard sale with her decluttered items and buy her a curio cabinet that would be out of reach of little hands. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO STORE AWAY THE THINGS YOU WOULD ENJOY SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH!😖

We moved into my aunt house I had to go through all her things. Our house is next door so I have to go through it all. My husband told me if we haven't seen it in 7 yrs get rid of them. My parents die so my brother & I was wanting to sell the house so my son & I went through all of it. But I'm going up to our house start packing it up & get rid of it. My oldest son told me to call a place that sell things & put the money back in for the people that needs help. Like drugs & get back on their feet.

Hi, I'm 74. My mother hoarded papers, trash, fabrìc, clothing, and more. I try to get rid of stuff every day. All my craft supplies fit in one bookcase or under my bed. I don't want to leave a giant mess. Tina, Al's wife
