I'm so glad you're inspired to freshen up your space! I definitely understand the struggle of not wanting to do too much when its all temporary, but we really enjoy making our house a home even if we can only enjoy it for a few years! And we still plan on taking most of these DIY's with us when we move! The molding can be used again in a new space and so can these shelves!

I don't know if someone suggested this already, but you can paint a swatch of your touch-up paint on a piece of paper, and take it to Home Depot or Lowe's paint department and scan the paint swatch to match it with their spectrophotometer. ☺️

If you were using that long drill bit, without any guide, they might not have been straight and therefore got hung up. This is a great way to float shelves. Best way is use a drill press - or find someone who has so those holes would be perfectly straight. But good for you for persevering.

Brava! I love the simplicity but it is clearly thought out and well-designed. (The original Swiss chairs yours are patterned after are over $1200 each, but are beautifully designed and made and worth every penny if you want to save up and have them for the long haul!)

The floating shelves with all those breakable items horrify me since we’re in earthquake central in CA 😂 but luckily the ones I’ve been through have never been major but I’m always skeptical of putting delicate items on floating shelves for that reason. But the dining room turned out amazing!!
