No wonder tires are expensive!! just look at how much work is envolved in their manufacturing process!!
@밝은빛-i5d4 ай бұрын
It's almost all done by machines, but most of it is made by workers' hands. Curiously, machines do many things, but it's a high-level repetitive task that also requires the strength, quick hand movements, and strength of workers. The process of creating regenerative tires is also strictly done.

How do the tyres get the branding on the sidewalls? They cannot leave "Kumho", "Bridgestone" or "Yokohama" on them!
@jasonmorehouse37567 ай бұрын
They most certainly can leave the brand on there. The casing itself is still made by that company. The only thing being exchanged here is the tread itself. The brand on the side doesn't really matter anyway, that's only superficial.

The white stuff: "These additives come in the form of oils, detergents, waxes, antioxidants, parabens, and more, and sometimes they can "bloom" to the surface of a new tire. While some may not like the appearance, we recommend not trying to clean it." (In fact you can clean it, but should coat the tyre sidewall with a silicon-based sealer/lubricant, which slows oxidation and moisture ingress / UV to protect the natural rubber. Plasticizers to keep rubber from going hard in the cold, oil adds to the slip resistance of the tyre. As tyres flex in regular use these migrate through the rubber and prevent the tyre getting hard and cracking, leading to failure. That is why it is good to drive regularly for tyres, than leave them sitting.

I've often thought there needs to be better ways to retread tires when the vast majority of wear is just on the tread. Makes me think there's just too much profit in making new tires and they don't care about the waste entering the environment.

Those tires are good for local work not over the road. Thats why you see the gators all over our highways. In 40 years never put a retread on any of my equipment
@jasonmorehouse37567 ай бұрын
You need to educate yourself kid. You're 100% wrong. These tires are great for over the road because they're made exactly the same way a new tire is made. It's technically the same process without having to make the casing. Those so-called Gators you see on the highway, 99% of those are Virgin casings. Not a retread. Failure due to being run low on air pressure. Next time educate yourself before flapping your lips on the topic you don't understand

And you need to educate yourself kid. That's only to hold it in place until the rubber is vulcanized which is a permanent fusion. Maybe next time. Educate yourself a little bit before you flap your lips on the topic you don't understand. FYI. 99% of those tires you see on the highway shredded apart or virgin casings not retreads

@user-tc4hc2nf4r You haven't been to Korea. The reason there are many foreign workers in Korea is equal pay for equal work. The reason there are many foreigners in the 3D industry is because the Korean population is decreasing and there is a need for many young and healthy workers. Why do so many foreigners choose Korea over Japan?
