This started as a way to make an escudo pikes peak car for beamng... and it ended up just being a hot wheels like car :/ either way, this has been on my Patreon for a while as early access, but you'll also have it for free once it's approved on the beamng repository - www.beamng.com...

The Hopper was always a sleeper on the track. You can basically turn it into an open wheel race car with 4x4. That’s if you modded a turbo in for the 4.0.

Friday Pikeday with a chop-top snow shovel... eh, my own tastes are no less acquired. Fond memories of that Escudo. My brother and I cheesed a 24hr race wall riding with that beast. I don't even remember what the prize car we were after...

​@Tundra_Z3R0just use the advanced engine swaps mod, you can shove a diesel V16 on a pigeon with that. The visual mesh is the same of the stock engine but it's still a way to do absolutely WILD stuff. It has a lot of parts tho so if your PC isn't particularly fast it might take a while...

Actually, the first Escudo had two 1.6 R4 turbo engines, later they had a V6 i think 2.0 and 2.2 on the late version

true, but since beamng's transmission can only have 1 input, and that has to be a clutch, and the clutch can only have 1 input, and it has to be a motor, and beamng doesn't like to control 2 transmissions, I just can't do 2 engines. So I went with the later single engine options

Interesting, I didn't know there was an Aero debug in the world editor. Visually seeing the drag is also really cool. I was just using the Wind! UI app and an app to measure weight distribution, then generating high wind speeds to see how much it weighed the car down, it seemed to work despite being rather crude. Definitely using this next time! Thanks!

Hopper looks awesome. Be curious if you could reduce the turbo and do a “Stage 4 Performance Block” instead. Would help with power problem and make it a little easier to drive. A little switch up of the suspension might be nice too.

thanks, though the turbo lag was a choice I made deliberately, because that's just how these cars were. You're meant to just be a better driver than me, and keep it bouncing off the rev limiter all the time haha

So this is a config for the Hopper that I never thought I needed until I watched the video. I love it ha ha 😅 Also the incredible amount of power and torque mixed with racing slicks(?) on a dirt path sounds very scary, fillman! 😟 Or did you change the tires prior to attempting the lap?

Should probably configure the gearing more in tune for rally racing. The first few gears would be short. That way, you can bounce between 3rd and 4th gear and have 5th for high-speed sections if it's a 5spd. Engine and suspension and tires aren't the only things that are modified. That's going to include the transmission to be adjusted to better suit the course being run. Should be more efficient and make use of all gears instead of essentially becoming a 3spd. It's more noticeable on dirt than paved roads.

You could build the Cultus Pikes Peak car from GT2 too, by making it out of a Covet with 2 engines :D Oh and the 405 T-16 that Ari Vatanen drove a record time for Pikes Peak in, it was mad. The whole video can be found called "Climb Dance" or something similar

I was testing the car after the mod hit the repo, and it strangely just takes off flying after uhhh 200-ish mph. You should add jet thrusters to it and control surfaces, cause the damn thing flies real nice

Is it just me or does the 3rd person camera feel off-center? Everytime it's viewed from behind the right front fender is more visible than the left front. At 5:10 when this part is widened did that maybe not knock things off center?

unfortunately all beamng models are off centre in the game file themselves. I tried to fix it, but it turns out you were still right, the body off by 0.008 mm.... (the fenders I made are perfect though) so not visible to the human eye, tbh it's probably just the way the camera works

hmm I didn't realise all-terrain were that bad. But tbh the tyre type wasn't the issue, it was more about the loss of grip due to the hopping due to still suspension
