Nuno the ego killa! Compliments his Eddie influence very well. Been one of my favs since the late 80s when I heard them on Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and got their first album. He is still in his prime. 🔥

To all the guitar players watching this video: I've been playing guitar for quite awhile and Nuno happens to be my favorite. I study and play anything from SRV to Pantera to Rage Against the Machine to EVH. That being said, is it just me or what Nuno does at 1:32 absolutely disgusting good?
@andybee51633 жыл бұрын
94 was the first year that there was 2 stages at Donington, the main stage for 'established' acts and then a 'new talent stage' I thinks the audience at the time would have preferred a 'Heavy' stage for bands like Pantera, Sepultura & Biohazard and a 'Not so heavy' stage for bands like Extreme, Terrorvision and Skin

I think it was to make it sound more grungy, which was popular right at this time. To Me, it works as it’s a little Pearl Jam’ish with the bass slowed down, but completely sounds like Extreme and their normal funky sound
@Hallow334 Жыл бұрын
@@JJG5150 I guess they had to do whatever back then. The last thing I would ever want is my band to sound like a grunge band. Worst decade of music IMO, other than PANTERA.

that's generally why I usually never go to metal gigs. The majority of the people don't understand shit of what music is about, they just assume that musicians are good if thay can play fast. Bullshit. Extreme were and are totally superb, and Nuno on guitar could blow away probably most of todays shredders

@TOBLERONETWO Well, from where I was, they got booed on and off, and all the way through, he could obviously hear it as he flipped the bird at the crowd as he left, pretty sure he said "f you" too. It was a bit crazy putting them on after Sepultura! Anyone got any footage of the last minutes of their set to confirm?

@rebornonline I was there dude, they were not booed on and off stage, the set was 45 mins as allocated, Bottles and stuff got thrown at of a lot of acts, it was part of the Donnington tradition. And although I also thought the Sepultura & Pantera sets were awsome as i was also with a goup who had gone to see them. There seemed to be a lot of ignorance in those days that bands that sing harmonies and play acoustic guitars where just not cool. Regardless of how good they are.
@TOBLERONETWO13 жыл бұрын
@fretworx you got that right!
@TOBLERONETWO14 жыл бұрын
@rebornonline Don't get me wrong, No doubt there was booing, there was a lot of media hype that Extreme didn't deserve to be on the Donnington bill cos they were "not Heavy enough???"Yet they were on the same bill as Aerosmith, Even Terrovision made a comment about it, they went on to write pop songs about tequila. At one point there was a bottle riot during Decadence Dance, Bottles up in the air fortunatley not towards the stage, that was funny.

@rebornonline And yeah Gary told the crowd before More Than Words to "Shut the fuck up" No doubt he was pissed off that day, a lot of bullcrap from the press for being there, It definately threw him. But they could of easily cut out Midnight Express and More Than Words, but they stuck to thier guns. Nuno was a "sitting duck" when he was on the stool playing acoustic, yet there were more people singing along Inc Sepultura fans. Fortunately there were more than enough Extreme fans there that day.

Nuno is Amazing - As for Dime not being as good as him, maybe you ought to see what he wrote after Dimes death. Much respect was given.. BUt as for Extreme that day - They were God Awful, and you can see that from these videos of the performance - Nuno will always be a great guitarist, but Extreme were shocking that day, and will go down as the worse band to play Monsters of Rock.
@reborn_online14 жыл бұрын
What this video doesn't show is that they were booed as they came on stage, booed all the way though there set, and then booed off stage again. It was a very short set too, I think they finished it early (a few bottles were thrown at them too). The lead singer flipped the bird at the crowd as he walked off stage. Not the way to win the crowd over. Shittest band to ever play Donnington.
@soeffingwhat12 жыл бұрын
I wasn't there (back home in Ireland studying for my Leaving Cert Exams :-D) but I did listen to it and record it from the Radio. You totally correct, back then Donington was seen as a purely "Metal" Type show. Donington, 94 was, I believe, the start of what was to come (the first show to have more than one Stage, and, in Extreme's case, a Band that wasn't seen as particularly "heavy" as it were.....(cont)
@soeffingwhat12 жыл бұрын
(cont)....I was really into Heavy Rock at the time (still am but my tastes are much broader now) and was growing my hair long, and this was when Heavy Rock kinda "stood apart" from everything else, but from 1994 things were turning around, Metal kinda went "underground" for a bit too. But I LOVE the way things are so much more open minded, and that Rock Bands can be part of a mainly "Pop" festival now and not look out of place....(cont)
@soeffingwhat12 жыл бұрын
(cont)... like at the Oxegen Festival in Ireland last Year when Slash and the Manic Street Preachers were on in between Kesha, Beyonce and Coldplay. Its also great how, over here in particular, Theres no problem for a Band like Metallica, Iron Maiden and AC/DC to play many Outdoors Shows, which they have done a lot of recently, whereas in the 90s they would have been very restricted....(cont)
