Impressive. A few observations. The stuffy nose could, very well, be from all the stuffed animals on her bed. They do collect dust. It may be time to limit how many she has on her bed. Have her pick a few, put the rest, neatly, in her closet, and then she can rotate them out when she wants to change them up. It looks like she is a "collector" (One of my daughter's was a collector at that age). It is not a bad thing to put a limit on it. We had to implement a rule, something comes in, something goes out, otherwise it ends up a hot mess of way too much stuff. Also, love the fact she is creative but have her do her creative stuff at the counter, not in her room. That way it is easier for her to do some cleanup and not just push it all under the furniture. Start slow but stay consistent, and set firm limits on her collecting. Great job on the clean up. It looks wonderful.

True, my 7 year old have a habit of sleeping with a load of stuffed toys and used to sneeze all the time, she also got dust allergy coz of that. My sister is a Doctor and when she saw this she asked me to at least limit the stuffed animals at night . My daughter got so much better now, she doesn't get dust allergy that frequently anymore!! Btw, we live in a tropical climate so we use cotton blankets which is plus

It’s so interesting to see how many mama’s actually struggle with keeping a clean house. I really don’t get it, it’s not that hard. This has truly taught me that I need to start a KZbin channel for tips and tricks of keeping a clean house with kids. I have a few short videos that I created lately but this is something that I really need to do. How old is your daughter?

Oh boyee do I remember those days. I started having my kids stay in the room while I cleaned/organized (why should they get to have fun while I cleaned? LoL) and eventually, they figured out that the less mess that there was the less time they had to spend "not having fun" as they put it. By the time they were 7 and 8, all I had to do was a weekly tidy.😉

That's funny I used to go thru my girls stuff and declutter as well, but their floor had to be clean. Their room was downstairs towards the front of the house, and I didn't just close the door. But they learned at an early age you play with it, you pick it up, you throw it around it goes in the trash.

Its great to see you doing this for your child, and not only that, but showing her what you're doing for her. As a child, I was exactly the same, possibly even worse, and my mother simply cleaned while i was out of the house, and never gave me the tools nor motivation to help me clean on my own once i became a teenager. It took a frankly ridiculous amount to teach myself good ways to clean and declutter, and a lot of time and energy on top of battling my rather poor mental health. So thank you for the simple act of showing your daughter how to clean, rather than just shutting her out and doing it completely by yourself. You have no idea how much it means in a child's development, even as something so minor. ❤

I loved your motivational message. It truly resonated with me, it's so very true! Learning to prioritize yourself and needs is something we all fail to do at times. This is probably my first KZbin comment tbh, but I absolutely CANNOT believe all the nasty comments you’re receiving. Wow. Everybody is an expert! You seem like a loving mother giving your all! Your kids appear to have wonderful bedrooms full of clean clothing, a warm bed, things surrounding them that bring them joy and comfort. Why all the criticism?! How about some gratitude for your willingness to be authentic about your content ? I certainly appreciate it! I never comment on KZbin videos, but for yours I had to! Why on earth are you receiving so much negativity?
@TheOfficialKayy2 жыл бұрын
I’m not saying I necessarily agree with the comments left, however the reason is due to the state of the room. It’s not messy, it’s dirty. There’s a big difference. I think a lot of commenters forget that people live differently and leaving a comment won’t change that. HOWEVER, some people *may* think this is normal when posting and receiving comments stating otherwise may open their eyes to change something. I didn’t listen to the talking, I watch these on silent. I had a best friend growing up and her room looked like this all the time. She now has a filthy house 24/7. I get where people are coming from as this isn’t a habit you want to create for your children. Also, if you put something on the internet and allow comments, you’re going to get negative ones. either way, the interaction in the comments (positive or negative) actually help her channel so I doubt she minds. I personally wouldn’t ever have a house with this mess but I truly enjoy watching people clean their disasters.

It took me a good part of the day to clean out my youngest daughter's room in the new year. After I organized everything she went through and got rid of a bunch of toys. I was very surprised at what cleaning did to help motivate her and I love videos like this because it helps motivate me to take the first steps.

Ashley you're the Best Mama!!! But I just could't deal with her room like that all of the time. She loves to cook with you and go to the gym and love on her siblings, but she needs your help to teach her how to stay more organized, When I was young, I shared my bedroom with my older sister. She told my mom that she didn't want to share the room anymore because I made a mess. (she just did't want her little sister in there) So my mom moved me to another room and my sister's room only became worse. 😰She is 69 and is still lazy and messy etc. I have always been the organized clean sister. I watch your videos faithfully but I don't comment much at all, just watch and like! But this just hits me hard. Maybe because I'm old school and we had to appreciate what 5 of us children had and shared with our Loving single Mom. Just speaking from my heart.. Love you Ashley and your beautiful family 🥰

It just goes to show that some things are just personal habits and traits. Not everyone likes to be organized & clean. To each their own! I mean of course I love my stuff clean & tidy but I’ve met many woman who don’t care & their houses are a disaster but they are amazing in other areas in life. Just because they lack in one area does not make them any less. We should just appreciate each other for what we are 😊

Hi Ashley, my now 42 years old son used to be just like your daughter when he was 8 or 9 only worse! Problems with Hygiene, school work and very creative too. I tried everything! Nothing worked till I discovered the “NOTHING”. That finally did the trick. It's a group job and it's not easy but he's better for it. “NOTHING” is: just what it says, nothing. I had to work things out with his teachers first. He got no recess, no lunchtime, and no field trips till all his school work was completely caught up. I got a weekly report from his teachers on this, plus desk/locker inspection weekly. At home, I emptied his room. No toys, books, crafts, TV, games, dressers, bins, or boxes of anything in his room just his bed which he had to make every day. Showers tooth brushing, hair brushing, and clean clothes every day. He was smell tested daily. (he had no friends at school because he stunk. I thought he would grow out of it but he only got worse). He had to stay in his room doing nothing but homework. He got no TV time, no game time, and no family outings till he completed and got all his school work caught up, kept his room, and self-clean for 2 weeks in a row. When we started the “NOTHING” I ask him what did he think I should do about all of his behavior problems and he said “NOTHING”. He thought everything was just fine. I told him you want nothing he said yes. I said be careful what you ask for and it took me a while but once nothing was ready it didn't take him long to move his butt and change everything. In 2 weeks he had everything done daily and when he would slip I would tell him that nothing can come back and he would jump into gear again. I know you think this is cruel and a lot of work but it sure showed him responsibility and respect for himself and others. I made him do the work not me. After this, He made friends, got good grades, and grew to be a good loving son and man with a great job and a clean apartment I'm happy to go to. Plus he went to college and got the highest honors through 2 degrees. So it was worth it and he tells me that often. Your husband is a military man he understands what duty, respect, and doing things the right way means. You need to be a united front and example of what you expect from your children that's how they learn to be the same in adulthood. It worked in my house is all I'm saying. My oldest saw this and changed too. He's served 21 years in the AF and they tell me I was the best mom ever. In fact, their friends say the same thing.

My daughter had a stuffy nose sore throat kinda thing going on for awhile when she was younger. Her dr asked if she had a lot of stuffed animals in her bedroom. Well of course! She did she Sid! 😂 Her dr recommended running through dryer several times a year because they collect dust etc. and the less soft fabrics in her room the better. So we took the carpet out and all the extra stuff out (running stuffed animals through dryer every time I changed her bedding) and overnight she was better. AMAZING! Just wanted to share. ❤️

Just one thing though, the no food upstairs 100% get it but be careful with having really strict food rules/ times once they get a bit older like 10/11 as it could lead to disordered eating habits of course it’s not a definite just a very prevalent problem that you might want to consider x

Absolutely agree. I was looking for this comment and hoping it was mentioned. Even at birth we know our bodies and how much we need and when to eat. No one besides us can tell us that we are eating because we’re “bored”. Unfortunately that really rubbed me wrong as being an adult who has fought with an ED my entire life starting at a very very young age, and raising a daughter who has never had her food restricted and she isn’t “overweight” she is in control of when she eats.

I had to laugh a couple of times watching you do this room😀Reminded so much of my kids bedrooms as they were growing up. My granddaughter has the same issues with stuff too.

New house rules: NO EATING IN YOUR BEDROOM EVER!!!! TAKE IT OUT, PUT IN AWAY!!! TIME FOR INSPECTIONS!!! LOL!!!!!

So happy to see this! I’m in Aus, my boys 11 and 8 share a room half this size and they’re exactly the same, they can’t seem to put anything away - to the point where you can’t see the carpet. And they don’t put their dirty clothes in the basket so they never know what’s clean or dirty- their clean stuff ends up on the floor too. It’s such a battle and I’m hitting my head against a brick wall with them. We’ve done complete declutters multiple times a year and it just breaks me that it’s back to mess within a week, like they don’t care about my hard work.

Great video! Maybe you could put the bins that are under the bed on the shelf in the closet and move the suitcase to under the bed. It might help with things making there way under the bed as much

I told my husband that your daughter’s room was the first kid’s room that I’ve ever been able to relate to on KZbin. The drawer situation, craft scraps, and unexpected items are the same scenarios that I deal with. 😂

Yay!! && that makes me so happy to hear I’m not alone too!! I’ve gotten a lot of hate on the state of her room 😅

@@ashleyforbes You are definitely not alone! And I’m sorry for all the hate. If I don’t like something in a video, I keep scrolling, or I don’t watch again. All those ‘keyboard warriors’ are trying to solve the world’s problems with just one click. Mercy.

this is like my daughters room! and she's 11! she has asthma so we had to limit stuffy toys. the hanging stuffy basket is great but probably not over her bed. dust falls right into her nose when she's sleeping

Yes! It takes so much effort to keep the living areas cleaned/0picked up (kitchen, countertops, living room, bathrooms) I never get to the bedrooms. I will do a quick pick up at night time when I tuck them in, but the clutter and random objects require a full “dig-in” kind of cleaning that I just don’t have the focus for. I can relate to this so much! Sorry for the rude comments. I am so grateful for you exposing a vulnerable area in your home that many of struggle with and relate to.

What is that powder you sprinkle on the carpet at the end of the video?
@ashleyforbes Жыл бұрын
It’s just baking soda with essential oil drops in it. I make it home made ♥️

@@ashleyforbes very cool. Is that for deodorizing the carpet? Do you vacuum it up right after or let it settle for a bit?

Just a suggestion…I don’t have much furniture in bedrooms but use the closets so there are less junk drawers and less places for things to hide
