He does it so the shots look impressive. knuckleballs actually come from a lot of height so he has a longer reaction time than normal freekicks. which is why most pros dont use the knuckleball techniques besides the fact that it has minimal chances of hitting the target, it will most likely hit the wall

Im a gk and i know how hard it is, they edited just the best goals , no good goals = no video , the gk can try if he saves it they wont put it in the video.They dont do that becouse they will have to spend more time on getting the perfect shots.
