Although we are both minimalists it doesn't always mean the shared things don't become problematic. In this video I discuss positives and negatives to living in a shared minimalist home. Some benefits for both living as a couple, (Which for us is our family) or benefits for single living as a minimalist. Along with some ideas of how the difficult ‘stuff’ and mindsets of sharing space can be dealt with. I also discuss some of the problematic terminology for making Minimalism content in a shared home and in a relationship. In that, some viewers are very unforgiving or inconsiderate about things around the home, that might actually not be a personal choice but instead, a loving selfless compromise, within our minimalist lifestyle choices.* ________________________________________ VIDEO MENTIONED (From Over 1 Year Ago) ⬇️ COUNTING EVERYTHING I OWN | Shared MINIMALIST HOME kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYOscp6AYq-YndE

My adult son moved back in with me after a relationship break up. He needs a set of work clothes ( including coats, gloves etc) as well as a set of motorbike gear ( he doesnt drive a car and there is no public transport to get to work). Also he is physically larger than me! Lol! He tries so hatd to be tidy and not impact my minimal, tiny, space, bless him but still such things take up A LOT of room! I cant say that i will look forward to the day he moves back out because i shall miss him terribly ( plus he is great at DIY! 😊)

😂 There are always pros & cons. Yes my partner is 6ft tall so his coats are double the size of mine 😂 his shoes 👟 too seem double the length. 🦶 Everything has its positives. My partner uses his strength to always carry our stuff when we travel. Also helping other solo travellers that aren’t as strong 😊 💪 Glad you see the advantages too 😊

Very thoughtful video. Not many people talk about shared possessions this way, especially reducing further to accommodate a partner’s hobbies and the payoff of a calm space. We move every couple of years, and have lived in 3 different states, so this has always helped for us to focus on what is necessary, but also to accept that each space is different and especially furniture doesn’t always fit or work in a new space, so some things get sold and new versions come in - this lack of attachment to these communal items really helps strengthen minimal muscles 😂 We are planning to live overseas for a stint, so it is a balance between having what we need, vs what will have to be decluttered, so I try to weigh up how much improvement an item will give to my daily life, compared to cost, space, mental load, future disposal.

I decluttered when I had someone *move in* temporarily and also when I had to move out for a year to live with someone else. Thinking of their stuff in my space and vice versa.

Same. If I didn't have my son and so many services, I would be furni free. Wouldn't even have the bookcases as without my son, I wouldn't have anything to put in them haha.

I love talking videos 🧋🧃☕️😂 nice point of view with the shared home. I'm always wondering how is life with less or non-minimalist partner (my husband try to be minimalist but it's hard for him 😆) good point to explain and grow together! ❤

I think it is impossible to live with someone who is not minimalist, there will be a crash of values, it means that the other person is either materialistic or unorganized or doesn't prioritize the enviromental footprint. But if someone is on the same page or at least aspires to be minimalist then it is ok.

A minimalist that does commercials?
@SagelifeMinimalism2 ай бұрын
Instead of a KZbin advert as I believe it’s more intentional. Whenever I occasionally collaborate with a sponsor. It is a product I believe in that fits in with a minimalist lifestyle. Whether that be eco friendly and sustainable or wellness related. I then remove one or more of KZbin’s placed adverts.
