Very informative. Thanks. For me am trying to find a solution where to leave equivalent of a suitcase if go on a long trip as the storage places are way beyond my means. .last time I had to just leave most things ie lose thrm and buy winter items as couldnt manage with my puffa just too freezing

I always travel with just a small backpack. I love not having to worry about stairs or uneven ground with roller bags, and I love to have both hands free. I have occasionally gotten places several hours before I can check into my accommodations, and having a light backpack means I can go out and start exploring and not worry about my luggage, because it's on my back.
@victoriavlasenko2 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t agree more. With a backpack I can also look for something in my bag on the way, not to stop if I’m in a hurry, for example. And yes, sometimes you arrive before your check-in, and carrying the luggage can be inconvenient. 😁

I'm Generation X. I've been a travel minimalist for years. It is SOO much more fun and liberating, to travel light. I stayed in Jamaica for 21 days with just 1 backpack & the clothes I had on... Everyone kept asking ''where your luggage at?'', lol. There were even 2 tops I didn't get around to wearing.

I went in vacation to NY for a week and packed something like this. Just used a packing blocks and fits perfectly. Even there was space left for an extra pair of shoes or a jacket

I always travel with just a backpack (20-25 liters) and one small bum bag for cards/documents. I travel this way even for 2 weeks of travels and it's so easy. If the accommodation doesn't have a washing machine usually it's pretty easy to find a laundry service and it's still way cheaper and convenient than having a suitcase.

Thanks for this. I don't watch a lot of Pack With Me videos anymore because I got so sick of these ppl with their suitcases thinking they're doing minimal travel 🙄🤭 But this was inspiring and useful. Of course it's a little different to the sort of travel I do - either short local trips where I take a small backpack, or much longer overseas trips (being an Aussie, it takes us so long to fly almost anywhere we try to make it worth the travel hours by doing much longer trips) and generally have to take a bigger bag - especially as I tend to travel at colder times
@susie9893 Жыл бұрын
@CaptSeaside but I did mean colder times. I avoid traveling in (your) summer cos crowds and prices. I'm doing a lot of (your) winter travel at present cos studying

No you don't. I traveled through Europe for 2.5 months with a 20L Osprey Tempest and a small bum bag. Started in Scotland and Norway and ended up in Greece, so the weather was all over the place. You just have to be really strategic. She actually overpacked by my standards. But if she packed laundry supplies she'd be able to travel with just those things for months.

I am still a carry-on traveler cus I don't want that entire weight of the wardrobe on me. I'll figure it out somehow..still longing to be backpack traveler though. I use a cinch sack like a day backpack once I am at the destination sightseeing. I prefer variety ( esp with color ) instead of one or 2 colors. An extra color or 2 will mix well with black or blue bottoms and not feel like I am wearing the same thing day after day.

Hi Karine, just curious about your phrasing (am always curious about French phrasing). Is it typical to say the weekend and 2 days in French, in this context? In English we would just say 4 days, or perhaps a long weekend (which isn't very precise - can be 3 or 4 days).

What about pj’s or a laptop or medicine or shower shoes or hair dryer or clothes to work out in, you don’t use sunscreen? I wish I could pack like you. Why are the other photos from your trip shown with 4 different kind of shoes when you only initially packed one pair of sandals?
@victoriavlasenko Жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for asking. I don't wear pj's, I didn't need to work, so I didn't need a laptop this time, I don't use hairdrier most of the time, I didn't work out in this trip , but I don't have specific clothes for it either, just using random leggins and a t-shirt, I don't wear sunscreen(but thinking about it though). I don't think it's all about packing, I have a minimal lifestyle overall, so this helps me to need less. As long as I remember I didn't take anything aside from what was on the video, but I think it's perfectly fine to buy smth on the spot if you desperately need it on the trip. I also went there wearing sneakers, so I had 2 pairs of shoes which is always enough for me. +slippers somethimes. Maybe the photos you saw were from another trip or just random photos of my life.

Roll tightly and neatly into ziplock bags and small packing cubes, rolling several items together is an awful idea! why use such a large container for an almost used solid soap/body wash! you are not allowed to take those blades in carry on! that pouch is huge for the razor! why not scrape out the deodorant in a jar/pot as there is HARDLY any left and it takes up extra space for no reason! the oil should also be decanted into a container that is much smaller and needs to be put in a liquids bag! the white pouch is far too big! you should put the stuff from the white pouch into the lunch box or get a collapsible one as that is too big! the sandals should be sole to sole and heel to toe and put in a disposible shower cap and the slippers should be in a shower cap too! You could have packed your whole wardrobe in the bags if you used the correct methods
@elara4955 Жыл бұрын
ziploc bags and packing cubes aren’t very minimalist or sustainable though. no need to pack your entire wardrobe for a short trip. don’t be rude just because you would’ve done things differently, everyone has different preferences.

@@elara4955 Thicko! i am not saying she should pack her entire wardrobe duh brain, i said she could have fit it in the bag if she could pack like an adult using good techniques, the entire video was awful! she has got all the other useless pouches and she took useless items too .. she didn't follow rules either! taking partly used items instead of putting them in reusable jars/pot/bottles etc was stupid! i gave brilliant ideas so back off, telling someone they could have improved packing is not a reason to act like a pathetic snowflake! of course packing cubes are sustainable, they can be used time and time again and i reuse the ziplock bags that clothes are delivered in so that pissed on your sustainable firework! she is going on a plane so you can't spout crap about sustainability and save the planet blah blah blah as plane and car travel are the worst things for the planet LOL! bore off !
@erinlikesacornishpasty4703 Жыл бұрын
@@elara4955 I don't think it's rude to tell people how to do it better. Especially when they're making a video about how to do something. There's always room for improvement. I've been traveling internationally for 15 years and am still learning the optimal way for me, and a lot of it came from VERY harsh criticism about how much I want to take and how I'm packing. Packing cubes ARE sustainable if you enjoy using them and use them for organization for 10+ years. I've been using the same set of Ziploc bags for travel for 5 years and it's been fine, so I'm not sure how that's bad. I buy and use plastic bags anyway, so why not use them for packing organization tool? Rolling, especially ranger rolling, individual clothing items IS how you compress your clothes without a compression cube and it actually IS a very good method to be more efficient. That way, you can get your essentials, including toiletries and other gadgets, into the backpack and leave the crossbody for an in-flight essentials bag. Ultimately, however you enjoy packing your stuff that seems to work is probably fine, but there IS always a more optimal and functional way to do it, if you're open to learning 🤷♀️.

@@erinlikesacornishpasty4703 Well said! I went away for ten days to an organised music holiday with a carnival costume with a heavily jewelled and sequinned bra (FF cups), a heavy carnival wide V shaped belt, fancy dress and three themed occasions in May, it meant i had to pack three extra bags, an extra pair of chunky wedges and the outfits plus a huge amount of accessories including wide belts and a crown! that is on top of a day and night outfit for every day , beach towel and enough toiletries for the whole time and make up , sewing kit, first aid kit etc..portable charger, kindle etc.. and i fit that ALL into a British airways personal item and a carry on case smaller than the allowance.. if it hadn't been for the all white, all yellow, Queen of hearts, carnival and Logo T shirt night then i would have fit enough for two outfits per day for three weeks in the case with a tiny bag for the flight.. i decant everything into tiny bottles, jars etc and i follow all my own rules and it REALLY works, i reuse and recycle, i use disposible shower caps that i have previously used for tinting my hair and rinse them out to cover my shoes and i reuse them to gather rubbish even when they are ripped.. i use solid body wash, solid cleanser , moisuriser , shampoo, conditioner and solid deodorant all in paper or cardboard not plastic... i look after my stuff and keep it for years so her comment was really wrong!
