Extreme mower torture.

It seems Stiga mowers can't be killed.
The black plastic bags were filled with almost pure oxygen gas (compared to normal air, containing a mere 21% oxygen)
The aerosol can is an ether based "engine starter"
Fuel was a mixture of approx. three quarters RME (a form of biodiesel) and one quarter of regular gasoline.
How the mower managed to run just fine on that mixture is beyond me.
And the detonation caused by the oxygen I was sure would reck the engine in a matter of seconds, instead it made a terrible sound and blew the head gasket.
But who needs a head gasket anyway? of with it and reassemble, engine had good compression and started just fine.
Even when we revved it on oxygen, finally getting it so hot the intake valve would seize open. All we had to do was wait half a minute and start it up again.
In the end it was running without a spark, like a proper diesel engine, but still it refused to die.
Update: The engine is apparantly a Sumec-Linhai SV150, thanks to twocvbloke for the info.

We tried everything we thought could kill the engine in a spectacular fashion, going easy on the ignition wasn't really a priority. That being said, I believe everything still works on the engine, the actual mower's been thrown out. Maybe someday we'll find a use for it.

Try WD40, or lighter fluid, or cut the fan or fins off the crank, or pour all oil out and fill crank with gas. if you don't mind next time.

65bug519 no theyre just a shitty chinese make with no name theyre actually very tough but the carbs are shit on them ive got a over head valve one but i pulled the motor off the deck and put a briggs on much more reliable its not even a year old and the carb has failed

It's a European Briggs but a Briggs all the same and there for industructive like all Briggs, unless you bend the crank or slam it with a sledge.

My brother who donated it had problems with the engine losing power and over heating while mowing (if I remember correctly) and he got tired of messing with it. Bought a new one of higher quality instead. So we tried our best to kill it but didn't really succeed. Even though it ran perfectly for us I don't regret it. Don't you ever wonder how far you can push things before they break?

Looks like there is a remote throttle control on the handle. What is the string being grasped which is coming out from under the top cover? Is it somehow changing the spark advance? Seems to cause the engine to detonate when pulled.

LakeNipissing The mower had automatic throttle control which my brother had bypassed long before I got my hands on it. The string is the make shift throttle control he built.

+LakeNipissing It dawned on me what was going on... someone tied a string to the governor vane and when pulled, it throttles up.. the 'tink tink tink' sound is the vane hitting the flywheel.

It's apparently a very common Chinese brand, can't remember the name. And the sounds it made were probably due to the stuff we did to it. The oxygen especially, still amazed at how a petrol engine can take that much detonation without completely disintegrating.

Frinkbit Sumec-Linhai SV150, it's based on the Briggs Classic and Quantum engines (the chinese kind of merged the two designs together), I have a couple of these myself... :)
